Macosx.com Fantasy Football - sign up now!!

Since you folks seemed desparate I joined in. I hope the league is more active than usual Yahoo Leagues I've been in. The last time I played both my teams made it to the finals and I only touched the teams twice during that season. One of them one the whole thing. I typically play ESPN's...

So When Is Enough Enought Frames Per Second Anyway!!!!

The Apple (read: OEM) Radeon 9800 Pro is an AGP 8x PRO card, which uses a longer connector than the non Pro AGP cards. The AGP Pro slots will accept non Pro AGP cards but non AGP slots will not accept AGP Pro cards. The Apple 9600 Pro is an AGP 8x card (non pro) but from my understanding it's...

So When Is Enough Enought Frames Per Second Anyway!!!!

Some facts about the Radeon 9800 Pro Mac editions (based on statements made by ATI employees). 1. ATI Radeon 9800 Pro is a 4x AGP card. It will run at 4x in the G5s. It is available as a retail card only. 2. Apple Radeon 9800 Pro (probably produced by ATI) is an 8x AGP Pro card. It is...

    Neverwinter nights on mac gamers?

A quick google search should be able to give you more information about Full Scene Anti Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering but they basically improve visual quality. It's all rather old technology but it wasn't until recently that video cards could crank up those settings and not get as much of...

    Quake 3 Demo OS X?

Because they take to long to approve anything Mac RtCW related. ;) The game sat in approvals for nearly 2 months. The demo sat in approvals for around 6-7 months. The most recent Mac beta patch still hasn't been approved. Heh, but of course I'll be one of the first in line to pick up Doom 3.

    Neverwinter nights on mac gamers?

Yeah, the Mac Radeon 9800 Pros are shipping and have been shipping since they were announced back in July, although inventory has been rather sporadic. Retailers and etailers that carry Mac vid cards should have stock now or soon. The online ATI store was the first place to have stock and...

    Quake 3 Demo OS X?

I don't recall an OS X version of the demo ever being released. I've only seen the retail version patched to work with OS X natively.

    My UMOD Installer doesn't work

Make sure you have the newer version of the umod installer (1.1. I think). It's included with the 436 update. Not sure which version of the UT CD you have, but I think the GotY version, which installs version 436, might include verison 1.1.

    Neverwinter nights on mac gamers?

I have the retail Mac version and I'll admit that performance on my rig was a little less than I expected (in the tech demo as well). But I've heard that's normal even on the PC side. Fortunately, it's not a game where extremely high framerates really matter as much. You can probably play the...

    America's Army Operation

If you check out Ryan Gordan's .plan today he released a new OpenAL lib for America's Army. It fixes the sound crash with the Revo 7.1 sound cards. It can also be used in UT2K3 for a slight performance boost: Ryan's .plan New Fix If you don't know who Ryan Gordan is he ported...

So When Is Enough Enought Frames Per Second Anyway!!!!

Movies also have motion blur in the frames which ends up helping with the illusion of fluid movement at lower framerates. The interlaced nature of TVs helps hide the 30fps along with the motion blur.

So When Is Enough Enought Frames Per Second Anyway!!!!

It also means the less impact more complex scenes will have on your gameplay experience. This is particularly important when playing multiplayer games where you don't want a lot of skipped framerates so you know what's going on onscreen at all times and want to make sure your system can always...

    Does Counter-Strike work with Mac?

Actually, Mac<->PC networking was very possible. However, no one wanted to pay a developer to continue making sure network compatibility was maintained every time Valve broke the network protocol. So they decided to make networking Mac<->Mac only. The main reason they claim they dropped the...

    diablo 2 beta 1.10

For those of you who don't know, there's a new Mac version of the 1.10 beta (1.10v2). It has much improved performance over the old versions (1.09 and 1.10 beta) in both OS 9 and OS X OpenGL rendering. I noticed performance increases in RAVE as well (OS 9 of course). You can grab the new beta...

    diablo 2 beta 1.10

As long as you run Diablo II in software mode (and don't have a ton of apps running in the background) OS X performance should be pretty good. Even in OS 9 they only decent API to use for hardware acceleration is Glide. OpenGL performance isn't too hot and RAVE, while better than OGL, still...

Just got a Dual 1.25 that keeps locking up...

Those dual 1.25s run hotter than your old 450 and the cases are designed in a way to provide good airflow over the processors. So it could be a heat/ventilation issue. Have you tried running it with the front door open?
