BroadbandOptimizer - more speed for browser in X

I just downloaded it, installed it, restarted... I just downloaded the MacOS 9.2.2 update at 450k/sec! The fastest I ever see is well under 200... This is great-- thanks a lot for the tip.

    Disabling the Finder

All right-- I'm using SNAX and I don't want the Finder open any more. I can shut it down after I login, but I just want it to act like a regular application: launch if I tell it to, and not automatically upon login. So, I tried to trick it like I do when I don't want the Dock to automatically...

Okay, "max" sent me iTunes 2. Thanks, max! I have two partitions and didn't see any problems. It's working great!

Anyone got iTunes 2 for OS X?

Well, I slept in till like 4:00 today (I love Saturdays!)... and I didn't even know iTunes 2 was out until after they pulled the OS X version off the web site. ...anyway, I want it! Would anyone who got it this morning be willing to send it to me? My email address is andy@hectorweb.com, aim...

WYSIWYG html editor for OS X?

Lol, this isn't the answer you are looking for, but... Why not write HTML by hand? It's more effecient, cleaner, and gives you more control. Plus, it's not really more time consuming than WYSIWYG, especially if you use an editor with good HTML editing tools like BBedit (pro, not lite)...

    AIM patch

Well cool. I spose I may be able to get it sometime in the near future then. ...anyway... I really like fire.app... it's got a lot of cool features, and it's gonna be killer when it's finished. The only problem I have is that it doesn't use a centralized buddy list like AIM does. :(

AppleScript Studio? Is this our new HyperCard?

Wow, cool... that looks promising. I used to love HyperCard back in the day.

    AIM patch

Does anybody know of a patch for AOL Instant Messanger to get rid of the ads? I have one for the OS 9 version, but I'm wondering if somebody's made one for the new OS X version.

    OSX 10.1 review by: vic

Yes, you can turn off bouncing... I think it's buried somewhere in the system prefs or it's in the Finder's preferences. It's been a while since I fired up 10.0.4-- can anyone give something more specific? I assume it hasn't changed from 10.0 to 10.1. Anyway, that's the FIRST thing I did when...

    What about osx server?

Well, they've got all sorts of info about 10.1 Server on Apple's site, so it looks to me like it's out. As I understand it, Mac OS X Server is and has always been a completely different OS (Think of Windows 98 and Windows NT-- many apologies for making a M$ comparison... lol)-- so you can't...

Finally, Apple steals somthing good from M$

I DO like it. That is always one of those tiny little things that I wished we had on Macs. Sounds great! Now all they have to do is switch to a goddamn two button wheel mouse as a minimum on all Macintoshes. Does anyone agree that this is like years and years overdue?

The Mac OS 10.1 .img size

5g64 is about 641 megs. Whether that's the GM or whether the GM is close/the same, I don't know.

Stuffit Expander mounts images too, I believe.

    I need to learn Java

Yah, I read that java performance will be improved in 10.1. I'm a college student, and I'm just starting to learn Java too... my computer science class is great but it's moving really slow... some of this info (maybe some books n' stuff) will help me go at a faster pace. Thanks. ...Here's...

    10.1 release?

Yeah, I was just wondering about that the other day, actually. It seems to make sense that they might push it back.

    10.1 release?

Yeah, really... I was very surprised to initially learn that it probably won't be available for download on Apple's web site. I really don't like inconsistancy in the way software is "versioned" (if that's a word :) ) ...an upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1 is free... an upgrade from 9.0 to 9.1 is...

    10.1 release?

Does anyone have an idea when 10.1 will be out? (more specific than "September") Anyway, I'm new here, this is my first post. Hello people. :)
