    Why Apple rocks!

I've had this with my monitor (Blue and White 17") for a while now, but it hasn't really constituted a problem yet, other than being annoying. What exactly can happen with this? I haven't heard much about it (and the TIL doesn't say that much, either).

    AppleScript Network Question

The problem is that Apple is now using AppleTalk over IP instead of the old method, so the syntax has changed somewhat. From AppleScript help (available from the Help menu, clicking the question mark on the lower left to show all topics, then clicking on AppleScript Help, and finally choosing...

    uninstalling Fink?

To remove Fink, throw get rid of the /sw folder. If you installed XFree86 through Fink also, you'll need throw away /etc/X11, /Applications/XDarwin.app, and /usr/X11R6. Unless you're planning on installing Fink somewhere other than /sw this time, there's not much need to remove that line. You'll...

why doesn't Mail's spam filter work?

I love that feature too, but I can't use it all the time. I have some mail forward to other accounts, and so bouncing would only give the spammer another account in that case. So I have to go through the headers of the spam, and that kind of defeats the purpose.

    oh boy....

Well, xfree86-base, xfree86-rootles, nedit, and oroborus (a nice compact window manager) have all installed flawlessly. In fact, I would suggest installing oroborus, and then giving OroboOSX a try. A few people mentioned it on Fink's user list, so I tried it. I haven't used much else since.

    Where Is My Dog?

I don't know about your dog, Herve, but that freakishly big spotted dog in the lower right needs to go on a diet.

    oh boy....

What are the error messages you get? Again, you might try checking http://fink.sourceforge.net/ as the FAQ pages and documentation has been recently updated. Of course Fink can't handle 1.8.10, if it says it needs 1.8.8. There is a precompiled binary available (although I have not tried it)...

    Speech recognition causes feedback

I'll make a vote for not having this problem (so it's not universal). What are you using as sound in? It should not be playing through, whatever it is, so it is a very odd dilemma. I can't check now, but doing a search in Apple's help for the word "microphone" could yield something.

WARNING! PLEASE READ! iTUNES 2 ALERT

If that's the case, I'm really freakin' glad I manually threw out the old iTunes first, like the instructions said. But do we know that it's a bug of the installer? Things would sort of point that way since the installer has known problems, but I haven't seen it corroborated.

    Holy S#!? : FIRE.APP is a damn good app!!!

I haven't checked the Fire website in a while, but it used to say that file transfering was unlikely, although anyone else was welcome to try and add it.

    iTunes 2

Whoops, I checked their page again and they appear to have taken it off. It's probably related to the bug that was posted here earlier in the day (iTunes randomly erasing files).

    iTunes 2

You might want to check again. It's very much out for OS X, as in I'm using it right now.

    Samba And Os 10.1

No, he announced the other way around. Macs can connect to Windows machine. Fortunately, you can get a precompiled version of Samba at VersionTracker, and it is quite easy to set up.
  15. Red Phoenix

    Yes!!!! iTunes 2 is scriptable!!!!

Interestingly, most of these things were there (except for the equalizer one, of course). There was something at ResExcellence about how to access them, since there was no dictionary for them. I'm glad to see that there finally is one now. P.S. How are you going to get your computer to hear...

Am I crazy? Does anyone else see this Apple logo?

Ah, now I see it. It doesn't look like Apple's logo per se. However, it does kind of look like a red delicious apple with a thermometer stuck in it. I wonder what that says about me?

Yeah. I copied all the pumpkin images, so I might be inclined to copy them back when I get nostalgic.

"Red Phoenix" just sort of rolls of the tongue, so you could pick that, too.

    Word test drive "unexpectedly" quits

Has anyone else tried moving the fonts from Classic's Fonts folder? In particular, Microsoft seems to have pinned the problem down to ITC TrueType Fonts, DNAFonts, XY Screen Fonts, and InterCon Fonts. OS X applications can use fonts for OS X and also fonts from the selected Classic drive, and so...

Post your OS X.1 Desktop Pics!!!!

Same here. I love SnapperHead (and pretty much any Stimpsoft product). At one point, I had two version running, so that on my website it would supply a small picture showing my desktop, and you could click on it to get the other copy of SnapperHead to provide a larger image (with the older...
