Access shared NTFS external hd connected to pc?

Turning off the firewall didn't help. Also, changed the share name to just "Music" and that didn't solve it either. Also- where's the permissions button?

Access shared NTFS external hd connected to pc?

How do I check the permissions? Sorry, not too good with M$. I have the sharing option checked under it's preferences. Windows firewall is on, but it says it made an exception for sharing the drive. Also, When I try to connect, it does not ask me for a username/password?

Access shared NTFS external hd connected to pc?

Hi, My brother has a NTFS external hard drive connected to his pc that I would like to access from my mac. I can connect to his shared docs fine through smb, but I cannot mount the external drive on my mac (because it is NTFS-formatted, I would assume). Is there a way to do this? Preferably...

Boot Camp Utility = False spyware positives?

Ok, thanks for the feedback. That makes a lot of sense considering how conservative my internet browsing is when I am using windows, heh.

Cannot choose startup disk during boot

Hi, I am pretty sure it has to do with the computer detecting the keyboard on startup because no other key combinations (safe boot, single user, etc) work either.

Boot Camp Utility = False spyware positives?

Using Avira antivir. I wouldn't believe that I possibly have multiple trojans, yet alone even one.. I only use windows about once a week or less, and even then I'm only on a couple sites that I know are clean.

Boot Camp Utility = False spyware positives?

Hi, My windows partition has been running great, no issues (besides it taking an unusually long time to login), but I decided to run a quick spyware detection program to make sure its clean. The result: over 30-35 (way too many to count) different trojans/worms are infected. Could the boot...

    Defective Hardware?

Well, one thing that confuses me is that the game works perfect when I play it on my mac booted in windows (boot camp created partition). Anyways, my graphics card is ATI Radeon X1600 128MB, and I have 1 GB regular ram. I know the regular ram fits the requirements, but not sure about graphics...

    Defective Hardware?

Hi, Usually when playing an online game called "Marble Blast Online" (via instantaction.com) my mac will lockup and go to a solid black screen. The computer will not respond to any keys pressed, front row remote, mouse, basically anything. The only way to get out is to hold down the power...

Time Machine Error (Read Only volume)

Update: Simply disconnecting and reconnecting seemed to do the trick for me. I browsed this thread and it seemed like that did the trick for some users, while others had to do much more complicated means to fix it.

Time Machine Error (Read Only volume)

It doesn't give me an error code. All it says is "Backup failed with error: The target volume is read-only." Now I really don't know why it would all of a sudden be read-only..

Time Machine Error (Read Only volume)

I have used Disk Utility to verify/repair its disk permissions, but neither of the others. Is it something I could troubleshoot with Drive Genius?

Time Machine Error (Read Only volume)

Hi, I am getting an error message whenever time machine has tried to back up, today. It says that the volume is read-only; however, I checked it and I have read and write access... I have tried verifying/repairing disk permissions on the volume, to no avail. Can someone help? Bonus...

Is it ok to move around an external hard drive?

For some reason, a few people I know think that is is 'bad for the hard drive' to move it around, e.g. from room to room. Can anyone confirm/deny this? Doesn't seem very logical to me.

    Frozen on logout/restart/shut down

Software maintance? What do you mean by that. I have repaired disk permissions when needed, but nothing software related. I obtained Onyx through an application bundle, though haven't messed around with it much. Running leopard 10.5.6. In onyx, should I clean up the 'system' and 'user' leaving...
