I think random crashes will only occur if there is a hardwareproblem. I worked on PCs at work for hours and I never had any crash, only some apps that might crash (Same thing that also happens in Mac OS X), but the system itself was stable. I wouldn't say OS X is slow. Just like you said...

I am just now "switching" to the PC side. Okay, it is more something like having a second computer beside my Mac, though that PC will kick the ass of my Mac, but my Mac is 3 years old, so this is only fair. I thought the current Macs are just too expensive for what they deliver, so I am...

Opening .swf Files per Default with Flash Player

I really have to watch my words right now, cause Mac OS X is driving me mad with something really stupid: I did a CD with Flash MX a few days ago, and made a Projector with Flash. No somehow this has changed the default application for .swf to exactly this Projector, which is of cource...

iCal and WebDAV on 10.2 Server

Please post the access_log of your Apache. (/var/log/httpd/access_log). There you can see some errorcodes, maybe we can work out why it is not working.

    Wow! Internet Explorer 5.2.2

Maybe they thought: "They hate us anyway, let's give them a reason!" :D

Competition to Chimera out on Windows / Linux

Doesn't Chimera also claim to be Mozilla? Anyway, what I always hate about Mozilla products is that don't have any cache: Even if you click on "View Source" it loads the page new from the Web! This is so stupid! If the page changed in the few seconds it takes to view the source, it might be a...

    Wow! Internet Explorer 5.2.2

IE behaves like most other Mac programs: The green maximize button resizes the window so that the page inside fits. Sometimes it does that after some odd rules. Press Alt + Green Button, and IE resizes to your full screen.

    Wow! Internet Explorer 5.2.2

Maybe it checks if you have IE running and if it is running it closes all apps?

    Wow! Internet Explorer 5.2.2

It didn't close any apps for me. I closed IE, ran the installer and all other apps just stayed open.

    Speed Up Mac OS X.2...

I also get something like this. 0 files successfully prebound. This says it didn't do anything, does it? During prebinding I get some messages like "Couldn't be prebound cause it has a resource fork"

    Military Time?

I would be so happy if Mail.app would give me "military time". I can't stand 12 h days... And why do I have to set my keyboard layout from US to German every time I log in? Apple really did a GREAT job on localization on 10.2  Or am I the only one?

Paris keynote hints of faster machines.

Maybe that's why they said the next Macs won't boot into OS 9: "What, the next Macs won't boot into 9? Oh, then I will buy one that can as long as I can!" ;)

iCal and WebDAV on 10.2 Server

I finally got it working on my local Apache server: I had to give the user www write privilege to the folder that the file should be written to. Look into your access_log and watch out for a line that looks like PUT /pathToFile/CalendarName.ics number1 number2 if number1 is 403 it...

iCal and WebDAV on 10.2 Server

Regarding the problem of the thread starter: I now tried t put a calndar on my sharemation server (Some free testserver that supports WebDAV). I can connect to that server via Finder or Photoshop without problems, but I cannot get the iCal upload to work. I think the WebDAV upload of iCal...

iCal and WebDAV on 10.2 Server

The format iCal saves its calendars is the VCALENDAR format. It is widely used in the Unix world I think, and http://www.horde.org has some online calendar in PHP that can import and export the vCalendar format. I already searched for some PHP scripts that can parse a vCalendar file and show...

WebDAV vs. FTP for iDisk...Is there need for change?

WebDAV is an extension to the HTTP/1.1 Protocol and so has no problems with Firewalls. FTP could be blocked by Firewalls, but that is not a big point, I think. The way Apple uses WebDAV it hasn't any advantages over FTP, I'd say.

    Connect to Server - FTP

I just realized that I cannot even put something on the server: In the information window (Command-I) the owner of the FTP-Volume is "system", group "wheel", and everything read only.
