As said above, you should be able to start from the cd and reformat the drive. If that doesn't work, then there's another issue happening....and if you can give some more detail it might be easier to help you out...what hardware are you using? what original install disks do you have? have...

I concur. the rage pro chipset works, but that's about it. i would guess that if you look around a bit, try ebay.ca maybe, you can find a card with the rage32 chipset for not much more that will perform much better. (my second monitor uses the ati nexus32 card and works great....)

when you get to the install screen where you choose the volume you're installing to, just do not check the "reformat as...." box and it should just do an upgrade to what is installed....should not be a worry at all.

it is not "free" software. it requires a license for the os 9.x version of v4 in order to run....so yes, asking for a serial # is pirating. if it was "free," why would it want a serial number?????? duh...... however, having said that i find it disturbing that connectix has not announced...
