[HOWTO] - Use iTunes as an alarm clock

Just a quick update to the script... iTunes 2 is much more scriptable; although they will still work, you don't need to do the event hookNext and event hookPlay commands. You can just use "play" and "next" I don't believe cron will wake up a sleeping computer. And from what I can tell...

[HOWTO] - Use iTunes as an alarm clock

A feature I've been waiting for, but it took procrastinating for a big test and a project to finally get me to sit down and figure it out. This makes use of AppleScript and Cron. It also assumes you have a playlist that opens by default in iTunes. First, open Script Editor and type this...

    SSI on Apache

Along with the above suggestion, I had to uncomment the server name line, in /etc/httpd.conf and put my IP address there instead; solved the problem and now works like a charm.

    iMac Hard Drive upgrade

It rus at the same RPM, so I guess that removes one thing from consideration. I was just worried that more platters and more heads would draw more power. It seems like whenever I do hit a freeze in classic, it freezes the whole GUI. I ususally can still use remote ssh sessions, but with the...

    SSI on Apache

In httpd.conf, just after you set the document root, add "Includes" to the line where you set the options. Worked for me. If you could figure out how to get directory autoindexing working, that would be great. It's driving me nuts.

    iMac Hard Drive upgrade

If I were to drop a western digital caviar 80 gig drive into my Blueberry iMac 333, would it run a bunch hotter than the stock 6 gig drive that came with it? What kinds of problems would I be seeing if it were running too hot? What could I do to check to see if were specifically related to...

    Pinning dock in 10.1

This will add an extra selection to the menu that comes up when you control click on the dock. I apologize for the funky spacing in the given xml below; the vB code wasn't being especially nice to me. From the terminal: 1. SU yourself. 2. pico...

    VIM Syntax color help needed

I probably shoulda mentioned this earlier, but I forgot. I'm running 10.1 and want C syntax highlighting. When I tried the above tip and using vim in terminal.app, it a) told me that it didn't recoginize builtin-beos_ansi as a term type and b) nothing happened. I tried builtin_ansi, but...

    Keyboard eject/re-seat

I find this "feature" to be annoying as all hell...call me a bad typist, I can't go for more than ten minutes without ejecting my cd-tray on my iBook. This should definitely be an option that can be diabled on the keyboard control panel.

would you mind sharing how you got icewm compiled under OS X? I'm having trouble getting it to work because it says it's missing 'libintl' and I'm not sure where to get it or where to put it. Thanks, --Gene

    Installing Fortune

Slur... Thanks for the help with fortune; it ended up working fine, and I appreciate the time you took in cleaning it up and fixing the makefile. You should submit your version to versiontracker; it's easier than installing the BSD fortune they have there. Since I have your attention...

    Installing Fortune

Thanks for the work you did in getting everything to work. I'm trying to learn more about OS X and Unix in general; if you have the time and could give me step by step instructions on where you got the source, and how you tweaked the makefile to make it work, I would really appreciate it and...

    Installing Fortune

I'm not really that Unix literate...has anyone had any luck installing the Unix Fortune program? Source available here . I'd really like to be able to get this to run, and I have a feeling it involves just tweaking the makefile...could someone post instructions if you've been able to get it...
