    OSX 10.5.2 Leopard network problem

I admit that this is nasty! You can do different things: Run the AFP server on W2K3 Server and connect this way. This has the added benefit of avoiding the ._* files which clutter up the directories were Mac files are stored. The downside of this approach is that there is a limit on the length...

Connecting to Leopard SMB shares from Linux

I guess you need to increase the Samba debug level on both sides and ask the samba people whether they can help you. Is your Linux box up to date?

    Built It Speakers problem

"Digital Output" together with the read light seems to indicate that the output is just in the wrong mode. Can it be, that there is a mechanical problem in the combined ear phone/digital output jacket of your MacBook so that the system assumes, an optical fibre is connected to the jack?

Connecting to Leopard SMB shares from Linux

"Connection Reset" means that the client process failed. You should find something in the Linux syslog files (/var/log/messages, /var/log/samba/...)

Can you connect your external monitor to the MacBook directly (bypassing the KVM switch?)

Drag and drop function not working.

VirgilTracy, where can I find about more about the hidden features in Mac OS? Is there a list of defaults somewhere on the Net?

I've installed all the MBP keyboard updates to no avail. Is there a remote possibility to replace my keyboard with the Air keyboard?

Drag and drop function not working.

Check your mouse settings in system preferences! There is probably something wrong with the mouse button(s).

    Synching iTunes between different machines

FW Target mode is a way to do it, but I have a 1GBit network at home that does equally well. I was thinking in a more logical way: Can you copy playlists? Can you copy from within iTunes or is Filer the tool of choice?

    Synching iTunes between different machines

Satcomer, how do you transfer the tracks? BTW, I'm not pissed of! :)

New iMac, External Drive Problem !

Have you checked system profiler and/or drive utility if they show up there? Have you connected them exclusively by FW or is USB connected in parallel? (You shouldn't do the latter!)

Transfer files from one mac to another

You are right, but that is not neccesary if you simply want to listen to the music from different machines. It is still neccessary to license your machines for your bought tracks, no matter whether you copy the files or play them remotely.

    Synching iTunes between different machines

Thanks for the tip, but that's not an option because I carry my MBP around and want to synch any changes to the library back to my iMac. For the time being, I have my iTunes lib shared over the network from my iMac to the mini and the MBP and I make manual copies of the files. The latter is...

    Synching iTunes between different machines

Hi, I'd like to synch my iTunes lib between my MBP (Leopard), my iMac (Tiger) and my older mini (Tiger). I know I can copy the files but I'd prefer a logical synch.

Can you comment on the keyboard compared to the MB Pro? My MBP keeps missing keystrokes.

iTunes: Is it possible to shuffle by Artist? (not album, songs or grouping)

Try to create a smart (intelligent?) playlist which filters your iTunes library by artist. I don't know the exact wording because my Mac is German.

Incorrect file sizes on SMB volumes?

I've just checked the situation with my 10.4.11 iMac (Samba Version 3.0.10) connected to a W2K3 server via SMB and the file sizes are correct. So the problem seems to be a compatibility issue between your NAS device and Samba on the Mac. If I connect to my SuSe Linux box, the file sizes seem to...
