    2 OS ( 9 and x ) in one mac?

I'll be durned. Thanks for the correction.

    SCSI Hard Drive not recognized

It doesn't need a driver, per se, Mark. It does need to be formatted (initialized). You can try Drive Setup (in your Utilities folder), but Apple's app is notorious for ignoring thrid-party drives. A tad snobbish, yes? LaCie used to pass out SilverLining, an excellent HD utility that works with...

    2 OS ( 9 and x ) in one mac?

There is one quite good (IMHO) reason for separate partitions. If you do an option-boot to select your startup volume, OS9 must be on its own partition to show up as an option.

    problem printing in OS9

A cheap workaround is to install a LaserWriter 8 driver in OS9 if it isn't already there. No, you don't need a real printer. Choose the LW8. In the print dialog, select "print to file." This yields a PostScript (.ps) file that Preview can read and print.

    Pioneer Dvr-109 And Tiger

John, why buy a 109 when you can get a 110 for $53 at OWC?

Playing burned DVDs on dvd player

Serene, if Toast gives you a verify error, you have a coaster. Toss the disc and try again. If you have Sony 1-8's, toss them. You'll get more coasters than good copies.

    Problem reading CDs/DVDs on G5 & G4

Sorry, Bernie. I've been inattentive. It never hurts to update the firmware. DVRFlashX will hold your hand and really not let you make a mistake. It might not say what you did wrong (like the two-blank thing). Remember OS9Fan's way of flashing the 110? Drive letter-colon preceding the...

[HOWTO] - simply turn Finder's showing of hidden files on or off

For those of us who don't much do scripts and terminal, the easy way is to download TinkerTool (freeware) from versiontracker.com.

    mac the ripper: bad sectors?

MTR 266 isn't the best for the new protection schemes. It may think it's working and not actually do anything. I repeat -- get MTR 3. Can you play the ripped VIDEO_TS folder in DVD Player? Is your Popcorn of the 1.0.3 persuasion?

Record A Movie From A Dvd To My Power Book

One or more "rip" apps would do the trick. For example, MacTheRipper will take the DVD, strip its copy protection (version 3 is preferred for newer movies), and place a folder on your HD containing the VIDEO_TS folder for that movie. DVD Player reads that file. Budget about 9gb per DVD.

    Problem reading CDs/DVDs on G5 & G4

All you have are the data files. You need an app (DVRFlashX) and a few instructions. First, look at this "pretty good" how-to: http://www.macosx.com/forums/showthread.php?t=263749 Then go to the MacFixit CD/DVD forum and look for a thread started Jan 31 between me and OS9Fan. If...

Bernie, drop the .exe onto Stuffit Expander. Oddly enough, it works like a charm.

    ibook G4 DVD problem

Esther, I've seen that symptom with the "RW" flavor of DVD. Only cure I found is to load those puppies onto the HD via DVDBackup (MTR hate's them, too), and burn to DVD-R. Just a thought.

    iTUNES naming tracks issue

That, I fear, is a feature. My notes on the subject: iTunes Notes AMB: 12/01/05 1. Private CCDB data base: iTunes keeps a private data base of each CD it burns to supplement the official CCDB data base on the web. It is ~/library/preferences/CD info.cidb This...
