Is there a rush for yellow caps pepsi bottles ?

Pepsi has had the caps here in Madison, WI since last week (or earlier). My coworker has won three songs (out of five bottles purchased). I am, admittedly, not a Peps drinker. I don't see this music thing swinging my vote to Pepsi either. I'll just take the $2 and spend it on two songs...

D-link wireless router and Airport card?

Thanks, I'm a little lost on this network, because it was set up by someone else. I was hoping to just have it work, but didn't want to dig into it any further if it wasn't possible. I thought since I was being handed an IP internet should have been no problem. I'll have to bother the...

D-link wireless router and Airport card?

Hey anyone have any luck hooking up a wireless Apple laptop with an Airport card installed? I am able to access the wireless router, it assigns an IP address to the laptop, just can't access the internet... I suppose if it's getting an ip, it's working, and the error probably exists in the...

Panic Software release Unison Usenet Reader...

So am I right in assuming that you have to pay to get access to the service, if your ISP doesn't offer it?

    Address Book Question

I'm sure there is... Did a quick search on the site and found this: Version Tracker This thread I should warn you, this is still considered a sketchy subject. The official word is not out as to if it's illegal to do this. There doesn't seem to be any limitation on Apple's EULA...

    Address Book Question

Yeah a real easy - and legal - way to do this is to use iSync, an internet connection and a .mac account. I have three machines and an iPod that all are synchronized automatically. My contacts, bookmarks, etc... Apple's .mac account will cost you $99/year, but you can sign up for a trial...

Who, from macosx.com, has the oldest Mac?

I have and Apple II plus... not technically a mac though... I also have a Mac Classic, which isn't that uncommon. ;)

The colors of the mini iPod.

I'm not happy with the colors either. I think Apple should have stuck with the white/metallic look. But as Steve said, the photos might not do it justice.

Is it a good idea to update airport base station (graphite) firmware?

I agree with Bob... I even carry the philosophy with system updates. I check what is supposed to be updated and if I don't use the app, or I'm not having problems with the system, I don't update.

MySQL date field to readable format.

I had been looking for the best way to do this for about a week. This example is very simple, but as I said, for some reason I had a problem finding it. Assuming that some people might be looking for the same thing I have included the code here: Scenario: You have a date stored in a MySQL...

    Printing in Safari!

I've noticed that Safari prints based on proportion. Try shrinking the size of the browser window width down and Safari won't try to print everything to the right and/or left of your content. I noticed this issue when Safari first came out, except I kind of liked it because IE didn't offer a...

    Water in iPod

Water -- by itself -- does not damage electronics. I have read cases where trying to use the electronics while still wet has cause some short circuitry, but that is rare. Blow drying a drenched computer keyboard or iPod, in this case, should fix the problem most of the time. I don't suggest...

    Cool holiday greeting card

That was cool... only thing is it didn't actually send the card. I tested it using my email address and it hasn't arrived in 20 minutes. (could be an SMTP delay of some kind though).

    Favicon design problem!

I think the key is the color set. Make sure you're using 256 Colors... and not unlimited. Photoshop will allow for much more colors then the icon will, so it will naturally appear blurry of colored incorrectly upon final conversion of the icon.

So far I love my Techtool Pro 4

It's good to see someone happy with their disk utility application for osx. There has been this massive void (IMHO) with no clear-cut disk utility to buy since osx came out. I think this void is perpetuated - for me - by the fact that I don't tend to think about disk maintenance as frequently...

Panther Bugs and Incompatibilities (Post here)

Despite the availability of the upgrade feature on upcoming osx installation cds, from now on I'm going to do a clean install all the time. I seem to regret the decision to upgrade just about every time I do it. I suppose reformatting the hard drive once a year isn't too bad.

    G5 Blues, ;[

I don't know if I'd call it a trend with Apple. But it has happened before. And waiting three weeks for an order to be shipped is marginally upsetting. But certainly not worth canceling the order. What seems more upsetting to me would be that Apple hasn't even processed his order yet. That...
