    Creating Hyperlinks in Mail

I agree with Giaguara on this one Count. I also have a similar spam filter that looks for that string. Just include the http:// in the link and most email clients turn it into an active link.

    Encoding AAC with DRM

fryke, I think that's more of a concern to the record companies. After all, their big plus to artists is distribution. They - up until the internet - were able to record, produce and distribute music faster then the artists could. But with little 'free music' places popping up all over the...

    Need to go beyond HTML

If you like learning online, try VTC. They are a great way to learn a topic from scratch. You actually get to see them programming, etc. It's fun to follow along, while they create pages, etc. I taught myself php using the VTC on php. They have a wide array of topics to choose from and you...

Laptop Stands: iCurve, iPerch, or ?

Voice makes a great point... I use my laptop as my primary machine. I have an external monitor/key/mouse attached and the fan kicks on quite a bit. I've taken to putting a book under the machine just for current. I've noticed after doing that, the fan doesn't kick on hardly at all. As a...

    FREE DUAL POWERMAC G5 1.8ghz!!!!

I think you did the right thing in returning it. I had something like that happen to me when ordering from MacZone. It was for a company I was working for. The entire order was duplicated. We received an extra zip drive, jazz drive, 8 gig hard drive, and copies of several software applications...

My Panther first Impressions and discoveries - Post here

Since I started working at my new job a daily ritual is to connect to the 6 shared volumes which all reside on one shared server. I was really happy when Panther came out, since it regressed to the multi-share connection approach that OS9 had. Connecting to one shared server produces a list...

    Next G5 Speed Update?

I'm not big on the waiting to buy a better model philosophy. Primarily because it's a self-defeating approach to buying a computer. Computers cycle, and it's important to know the cycle, but don't live and die by it. I usually buy second generations. For example, I purchased the second...

My first url - now where to host it?

Oh, and to answer your question, no, you cannot use your .mac with a domain that you purchased. I've seen plenty of hosts out there that have the $8/month fee, but be careful doing so. Right now these companies are a dime a dozen. They are arriving and disappearing just as fast. Also if...

My first url - now where to host it?

Keep an eye out for some features... From the laundery list of things you mentioned, you're going to want to have access to some kind of database services, and it wold help to have that included in the package. I think the most obvious solution is to look for the following. Server type...

What happened to $9.99 per album?

I don't remember Jobs saying all albums would be for $9.99. I remember seeing albums on the first day of the store being opened that were not for that amount.

Help connecting PB w/ Airport to tower on Ethernet

I've had some luck using doing this. I've tried two different things... afp://machineName.local Which might not work as that's rendezvous Or try to use the LAN ip on your performa FROM your Pismo. It will be something like afp://192.168.1.102 or some generic number like that... look...

My LAN file transfers are sssllllllooooooowwwwww...

Also might want to keep an eye on that signal strength. TiBooks (I have one) tend to flake out when they don't have full signal. I was seeing speed decreases and even drop out with 75% signal strength.

    Personal Portfolio Launched!

Excellent work Trip... I really like it. Clean and clear design! I'm with TommyWillB on the graphic text... of course I think it's somewhat expectable in a personal portfolio site. You really don't have to worry about Google indexing or even speed unless it becomes atrociously slow. You have...

    Adobe LiveMotion: DECEASED.

I remember getting a call at midnight one night from a friend who had done an entire site in the alpha version of LiveMotion. It wasn't called LiveMotion, and I am blanking on what the Alpha name was... something "Fire" I think. Anyway, He had no idea what to do, I convinced him to convert...

    What are my options?

Well that's the problem, is that most companies tend to create separate budgets for hardware and software. As they tend to be on separate cycles. For example the company I work for, all of the print designers are on os9 and are stuck their. They have been on a software cycle which -- as a...

Safari Making Me look Bad to Clients

I don't think doing a shift-refresh works in Safari. That has been my biggest complaint with Safari, small changes seem to very difficult to reflect in a refreshed page. Although some of that is at the server level. Some servers hang on to cache files a bit longer then others, especially for...
