If you have your mac set to go to sleep and you have the security pref checked to require password after wake from sleep, the mac will wake up when you tell it to but will go back to sleep within a minute if you don't type in the password. i never have to do that. just plug in the external monitor, mouse, and kb and power cord. hit a key on the kb and it comes to life. you have to have the power plugged in for this to work though or it will not come out of sleep.

try turning off filtering. quit mail and restart and see if it works then. If not reset junk mail filtering back to default. It should work then

I got it working by setting up the connection manually on the xp box. I have an ftp server set up on it to use Dantz Retrospect to back up my home dir. I just thought it was weird that the airport would be sending out that subnet. Everything works now including windows network browsing.

ok this seems to be the problem. when using dhcp, the airport gives out addresses of 10.0.1.x with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. When using Win XP and typing in a static ip of 10.0.1.201 it auto creates the subnet mask of 255.0.0.0 which would be correct. After changing this to 255.255.255.0...

no there is no rigorous setting. It is like the airport is filtering out the network from doing windows file sharing. My laptop does not do this at work (linksys access point - dhcp). It does not do this when it is plugged straight into the network at home. It only does this when it is connected...

i got that in the past on my 10.2 cube. I don't get that on my 10.3 pb. I would consider that a security problem though. I have the problem of the user/pass box taking a seemingly long time to appear for me to type my password.

make a backup of your iphoto library. I nearly lost mine after I upgraded to panther with the filevault issues. my external hd bit the dust and the only thing that saved me was an external dvd backup.

vuescan www.hamrick.com no import straight into PS but it will allow osx, win, even linux to support a lot of old usb and scsi scanners. Also image capture in panther supports a lot of scanners that osx didn't. My Epson 636U works instantly with image capture in panther.

Now i can listen to www.theticket.com sports radio without using MS Remote Desktop. Also other sites that only use WM9 codecs through a web browser will now work. Maybe they should have only added the codec to quicktime instead of making a stand alone player.
