For whatever reason, my father who uses Outlook in Windows XP sends me emails with attachments (usually Word documents) that arrive in my Inbox with nothing but "winmail.dat" attached. Anyone know what in the world this is, or better yet, how to fix it?

Okay well I figured out that by simply copying my old XLM and DATA files into the Music folder will fix iTunes. iPhoto's still not finding my new photo library though.

I just reinstalled OS X and moved my iTunes Music folder over to an external HD, along with the Music Library XML and DATA files. I changed the path in the iTunes prefs but it still doesn't load up my music, what am I missing? I did the same with iPhoto and I'm not sure how to tell it where...

So here I am trying to copy several CD-ROMS, I go into Apps > Utilities > but there is no Disk Copy app! Isn't there supposed to be? What alternative do I have now that this app appears to have jumped ship?

Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments. Luckily it doesn't seem to be getting much worse; I'll begin turning the thing off more often now and hope for an improvement. This 'ol eMac's gotta last me another couple years!! :)

I've had my eMac for about two years now. Within the past week or so the left side of the monitor is turning a greenish color. Does this mean that the monitor screen is actually dying or is there something I can do to fix it? I treally does suck that I paid so much money for this thing then...

Well dropping it onto Stuffit did the trick .. sort of. It created a new sea file that runs an installer, but the installer freezes. Not a Stuffit problem, but it still sucks. Thanks for the help though, guys.

So I downloaded a little guy this morning that ends with sea. It was specifically a Mac file, and intended for OSX at that. So why doesn't my Mac know what to do with it?

Lycander: Similar thing happened to me only a couple months ago. I lost several important word documents for school and work as well as over 2500 photos from the past 3 years. About 11 gigs of files in general... unbelievable. Ironic thing is, I was backing it all up to an external drive...

I need an external drive which will be used for storing my music, photos and probably some video (from a digicam for iMovie use). There seems to be about a $50 difference when it comes to harddrive cache, is there a noticeable diff. between 2mb and 8mb?

Just to interject, I recently lost all of my digital photos and music due to a Lacie external harddrive. It was one of those ones designed by Porsche. They may indeed make good drives but I will never purchase from them again.
