    BBEdit instead of vi

Well if you 100000% hate vi, try 'ed' (father of 'sed'). Line editors - 10000000000000000000000% hate them :)

tar, pax, cpio for backing up

Well I've found the 'dump' command which seems to have the same funcionality and format of solaris's 'ufsdump' command. The advantage over tar is that 'dump' support incremental backups. As far as backing up resource forks etc.. have you tried 'dd' it's not a recomended backup tool, but it...

    Lovin' 2 buttons.....

I thought that the single button mouse was a symbol of the mac's simplicity and ease of use. If so, I doubt they'll adopt a 2 button mouse.

    Menu and desktop font size

I also think the menu bar font should be changed. It's too big and too fuzzy. I would also like to be able to make the actual menu bar thinner. Can this be done?

    HOWTO use rcp ?

The syntax is: rcp myfile host:/dir/to/copy/to Before this you have to set up host equivelence in /etc/hosts.equiv (to trust a remote host) or in $HOME/.rhosts (to trust a particular user on a host). For the hosts.equiv just list the host(s) eg: mymac g3po The hosts.equiv file trusts...

    Ti G4 500 - all good

It was a bit of a nervous wait over the weekend, reading the post of punters who were having problems with X (mine was to arrive on monday). However, monday came, so did X. Most people seemed to have issuses when creating multiple slices etc... But I though that the Mac is all about...

    Super user ????

Just remember "su" stands for "switch user" not super user. "su" gives you a root shell with you env settings and "su -" gives you a root shell with roots env.
