    OSX vs. Windows

Ya we know installing Firefox is possible but I personally dislike firefox so thats not an option for me. So are we saying that Safari needs 2-3x the processor power for proper surfing compared to a PC with IE?

    OSX vs. Windows

I dont think the problem is that sites are optimized for IE. Heck apple.com comes up faster on the PC. Anyway at my last job, one of the designers was using a dual G4 500 with 768mb RAM and at the time he was running 10.2.x. He asked for a windows box because he wanted to learn a little since...

who started using USB...Apple or ?

RacerX, its true NT4 out of the box did not support USB, but there are 3rd party USB drivers such as this one http://www.bsquare.com/products/usbwin40/

who started using USB...Apple or ?

Oh I thought the B&W tower was before the imac but you're right. The 233Mhz imac was out in 1998 so a year before the tower. I put the link because I thought it was the first machine with USB....

who started using USB...Apple or ?

Hmmm, didnt USB get released first in the B&W G3 towers? I think that was in 1999 right? At least according to this http://www.lowendmac.com/ppc/g3c.shtml As for who implemented first or making it common. I think Apple was first in really making it popular but USB was available for a long...

    News on IE7

I understand but how else could you protect a user from phishing, yet still notifying them that its happening and give them an option to continue? Life is full of annoyances :) ...but in this case its helping keep a user safe so its good.

    News on IE7

I dont get what you want. I think if MS knows a site is phishing, then an alert box informing the user makes sense. If for some reason the user wants to go there anyway, they can choose to do so. Seems logical and straight forward to me.

Oops.. I was way off :) I just dug around and it looks like CP/M was an available OS to use but not the default OS for the computer. I dont even know why I thought CP/M :)

    Frying "HOT" Drives

I recall talking to seagate a while back about hard drive reliability and they said that 50C was the hottest they recommend the drive to operate over the long run which is 112F. They told me that even small drops in temp can yield major reliability gains. My 15,000RPM SCSI drives right now are...

    Running Windows On A Mac

I think you should get a cheap PC because at least if the website you're trying to see has flash on it, then you'll have enough power to view it properly. I just priced out parts from www.canadacomputers.com and its pretty damn cheap. If you have techie PC friends, maybe they can help build or...

Anyone here purchase the Dell 24" LCD?

I decided to cancel my order and remain with my Dell 21" trinitron for some time longer. I'm just too happy with this monitor to try something new. I realized that after the order. The LCD may be more compact, better focus and brighter but this CRT has nice velvet smooth colours and somehow has...

Anyone here purchase the Dell 24" LCD?

I just ordered one and am waiting for delivery but I'm still not sure as I've never owned an LCD before but for those who have this monitor... is colour reproduction fairly close to a decent CRT? I've got an older Dell 21" Trinitron which is very good but its heavy, uses lots of...

    No sound on doom 3

:( Sorry to hear its still not working. Its frustrating. I myself had purchased a nice soundcard (M-Audio 2496) for my PC and I would have been angry if it caused probs with some of my fav. games like Doom3, HL2 and Farcry. Well I lost of my car games due to excessive crackling but I'll live...

    "It Never Crashes" it does...

Well I'll gladly buy that XP license from you :) If its a retail XP that is. So what happened to your XP install as far as you can tell? If you're getting crashing or bluescreening or freezing, then I'd do a memory test on that stick of memory. Sometimes you can get some hints as to what is...

    "It Never Crashes" it does...

Spyware and viruses are the biggest problem with 2k/xp. If people are careful then the system has no problems. Its quite bulletproof on its own when its not riddled with viruses :) Can you believe in this day and age,I know people who have windows (I do as well) and dont even have a router /...

    Synchronize!!!!

Why not just syncronise once and on your laptop, just set it to leave mail on server and on your desktop you set it to the same but say delete after 1-2 days. This way you would have had a chance to download on both devices even if its a couple days later. Things will always be syncronized. This...
