A clean start is possible, but it's up to us!

Oh man, you get better and better... LIGHTEN UP! And FYI, my "inter-personal skills" (damn stupid Americanisms) are just fine and dandy. There's no flame-bait in my post -- if you're seeing that, you really are an "Angry member" -- chill before you blow something! We were jesting with each...

    10.2 prices

Yeah, shocking innit? :D I have an old iMac, so have shied away from upgrading my OS... but I figured I would now, seeing as OS X seems to be getting more and more optimised. And there's no point buying 10.1.5 now is there, not with 10.2 round the corner? If I've waited this long...

    10.2 prices

Nothing concrete, no. "Late summer" appears to mean August / September for release (there's also some discussion as to whether 10.1.6 will see the light of day between now and then). There's also been chat about pricing. I'm assuming that as 10.2 constitutes a major release (i.e. like 10.1)...

A clean start is possible, but it's up to us!

I have a sense of humour... sometimes. But this whole storm in a teacup has s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d it to the limit. Anyway, shouldn't you be doing something else if you're "semi-gone" -- playing Quake or "chasing chicks," something like that? ;) :p (Yeah, I read your profile... sheesh man!)

    What Languages Do YOU Know?

Not really, it's just a tagging schema. But I guess it falls into this on account of its name: HyperText Markup Language. Same goes for ASP (if "Active Server Pages" was intended) and AppleScript... they're more tag / script-based, rather than being out and out languages. But hey, it's...

A clean start is possible, but it's up to us!

Nope. General observation about these "Gone" avatars is all. Well, jeez, now I'm the problem when all I'm asking is that people go along with Admin's post pleading for a return to sanity on the boards. There shouldn't be any sides in all of this, and as far as I'm concerned there...

    Scanning under OS X

In addition to the Umax story re US driver support, this is what Umax UK say: -- Astra Scanners Astra 6400 & 6450 scanners. UMAX are currently Beta testing an OS X VistaScan driver. The Beta version is available for download from the Driver Downloads page. Currently most Umax...

    Scanning under OS X

As if anyone needed convincing not to go with Umax for their scanner under OS X, check out this story at The Register here in the UK: http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/39/25548.html

A clean start is possible, but it's up to us!

Please... Look, everything got out of hand. Yesterday, Admin wiped the slate clean and told us he's taking a break. A wise decision IMHO. So why can't others do the same? Move on? If people continue to make overblown and cretinous remarks about thread deletion (for Christ's sake! thread...

A clean start is possible, but it's up to us!

No, I get it, I just have a life. Maybe some of you guys should get one too. And for people who are "gone", you guys sure seem to be able to post a lot.

A clean start is possible, but it's up to us!

SO in other words, your avatar is completely pointless, as is your post... Look, this is "just" a discussion forum. Don't get so wound up about it!

Well, it's good to see that some people are getting on with things: http://www.macosx.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18703

    QT Pro: Maybe higher price...

If you think it's a stupid update, then you won't be getting it, right? BTW, people like you give students a bad name!

    Jaguar 6C48 New Finder Preference

These ad campaigns only seem to happen in the US. Usually, all that happens here in the UK is that a couple of the TV slots get some airtime in the run-up to Christmas. But they're so "American" / out of context (i.e. only bits of a campaign rather than the whole thing), that people just...

    Macintosh Clasisc

I sold my Classic last month. It worked fine. Great little machine. I had a machine with the "top spec": 4 MB RAM and 40MB hard disk. I ran System 7.1 on it, which I think is as far as you can go with the 68000 Macs. You should be able to ethernet it, no problem. Farallon used to make...

Custom Dock picts?...altering the PDF file??

You only posted this earlier today. What's the point in chivvying people who may not even have switched their computers on yet?? Did you search the forum?

    10.1.5:Rage LT ?

Apparently so, although I haven't dared try it on my rev b iMac (233MHz). And that's a Mac that Apple list on their site as being supported.

    Newbie request

If you want to muck around with Java, and gaming, why not try Robocode? I've been playing with Java for a while, and this has kick-started me into REALLY playing with Java: http://robocode.alphaworks.ibm.com/

    Absolute minimum spec for OSX

Crikey. Does it really run OK? I've seen some on this forum with older Macs running OS X say that windows take 5- 6 seconds to re-size and wot-not. I have a bondi iMac (rev B), with 256 MB RAM. The system's got slightly more VRAM and a larger HD than the original original iMac, but that's...

    Are you anti-frames?

OK, so maybe I shouldn't have chosen these pages as an example ;) Doh! We're walking away from the frame discussion again... The frame-based documentation found on Sun's site is a standard for all Java code documentation. If you issue a "javadoc" command against some code you've written, the...
