    The new me...

I'm trying to work up a quick vector formatted one so I can try some animation... but I can't figure out the middle... wth is that? It looks like a double quote... or a telephone... or something... On Apple's site it looks like a bunch of little aqua balls... I hate those little aqua...

    The new me...

You -should- be able to name a small animated .swf as .gif and IE just kinda goes with the flow...

    external superdrive

I'd just leave the superdrive in... my external burner performs really really well on the firewire connection... which is technically faster than the internal bus.

Interesting! "FireWire" now the official name of the IEEE 1394 connection standard!

GRRRR... i hate iLink... frickin' weak little 4 pin piece of crap connector... :P I've got your i.Link right here!

    Reported Here First: MacRack Coming

It's no less safe than the one on the right. Marathon's stuff is good... it's too bad that Apple is potentially going to DESTROY the market for their products. I mean... I'm glad we're getting mac racks... but Marathon has been doing really good business.

Am I the only one that likes the brushed metal?

It makes design/UI sense... your utilities... bread and butter tools... need to be stableized. Brushed steel is more grounding and solid than Aqua. It's not that Aqua isn't great, it's that a visual cue to help people understand the difference between the tools that apple provides and...

Apple - Part III - The Saga Continues

Goerge... you reek of troll. What precisely are you trying to convince me of? Have you reinstalled OS X with an HFS+ file system yet? That's your first speed problem. Until Apple works some mojo and gets their new employee (who used to work at Be) to fix some things... we're stuck with...

    WWDC News!

AG3... do you expect them to squeeze blood from a stone? Precisely what processor do you have that you would like Apple to offload the Quartz rendering onto? Your IDE chipset?

TEAC USB Floppy SLOOOOW on Mac OS X

Welcome to the woe that is high-bandwidth USB devices. Do you also have soundsticks? oi. I keep my sticks on their own usb bus... and don't bother with anything else...

A big blow to the PC community: Nothing Real to discontinue Shake support for Windows

I disagree that Linux is more difficult to maintain than WinNT. I've seen Windows machines sporadically break for reasons I couldn't even hope to unravel. My redhat or openbsd machines have stayed up and running for months without issue... even with heavy use and processor load. When they...

    Do you have a girlfriend/boyfriend/spouse

Proms are what you make them. I went with two lesbians in denial and just has a blast in general. I danced with all the attractive exchange students, flirted around, and was really only responsible for myself.

    Let my cursor go!!!

It's very simple. The only remotely decent Macromedia application is Director... only because you can program everything and not deal with the actual application. Other than that, Macromedia = suck. Flash is VIOLENTLY counterintuitive.

My take on the new eMac and new Powerbook

'High priced' iMac? The low end one has a very nice flat panel and the same processor as the eMac for $1400. It's for home users... it's great for home users. For $400 more it has a superdrive and a faster chip (+ ram and HD). I don't think the iMac is high priced. If you balk at...

My take on the new eMac and new Powerbook

Flat panels don't make sense in a lab setting. They're too light and easily moved/stolen/knocked over. CRT displays are more feasible. So- up until now administrators were forced to choose between stripped down powermacs and cheap displays (which they couldn't get covered under their apple...

    New eMac!!!

I see this as an EXCELLENT option for my school. This is an excellent solution for art students... the original iMac's low resolution made it not an option for my GF, who was looking at getting one. The higher res will sell itself. Not to mention the much sturdier design than the flat panel...

I just checked out Maxon's site... http://www.maxonshop.com/us/ Cinema 4D go looks like a good place for people who want a 3D package that sticks to conventions but don't want to pay for all the bells and whistles they don't care about yet... it still looks like a competant 3D program...

I want to say that C4D is about $500 educational... not a cheap program, but it's much more accessible and easy to learn than other packages (esp. lightwave and maya). There are other less powerful but still good packages out there, but C4D, IMHO, is one of the better balances between zero...
