Midi keyboards .. which do you use, which are good?

if you're getting into recording/composing and will be using something like garageband, i suggest the roland PC-70 midi controller and a midi-USB converter. that's roughly $120 in stuff, and should be quite enough. if you don't already have a good set of speakers, those would be a great...

Sim City 4 on an old iMac

sim city 4 on a dual 867 with an ATI 9k is really poor as well. the beauty of sim city 4 is following around your sims and seeing the cars and stuff-- well, i had to turn all that off to get the game running. the game is still on my shelf. ah well.

    Electric Guitar through an iMic?

i just want to say for a guitar, the 1/8 converter is great, but if you use a mic, you'll need a pre-amp. it's cool seeing people get into music with garageband. i wish we had this stuff when i had a band back in the day. we just used a 4 track tape-recorder and, well, a garage with mattress...

iLife '04: Don't waste your money

the iphoto update is pretty major. you'd notice it if you used iphoto a lot. iphoto was crazy slow before, now it's crazy fast. just hit the scroll down button and hold it. wowee. garageband a joke? are you a musician? do you have a midi keyboard? if not, then it's probably not for you...

    Mini IPod Prices

howabout this? "if price were NOT the driving force behind which players sell the most, the iPod would have 100% market share." price IS a factor. the ipod is obviously the best, yet it has 31% of what once was a dying market. when you tell someone-- your regular joe-- how much your music...

    Adium supports other services

adium is teh koool. (note: preview's jpg compression is not teh koool). adium has a bazillion features and preferences, but they're not all in front of you. the 'hidden' preferences are under the advanced tab. neat. you can receive file transfers, but not send them. they're working...

Anyone at MWSF04 tried iPhoto 4?

to answer the above questions-- no. iphoto 4 does not support sub-albums. not that i can see, anyway. i wish there were a better system of organizing the photos instead of using keywords. i hate that method. it's just hard to get used to.

    Mini IPod Prices

check your math. if 4GB = 1000 songs... 10GB = (hint: not 10,000). anyway, giaguara is right. it's 15GB. and you're right-- i don't see them selling way too much of these. if he really wanted to break into the flash mp3 player market, he'd offer a 1GB or 2GB for $100.

    New 20" imacs!!]

that's freakin' huge. i mean HUGE. the 17" is bad enough or color accuracy, imagine the skew on the 20". i would have to physically move my head around to see everything. that's what i have to do with the 19" i've got.

    Exposé shows hidden windows !

it's a window that site programmers code to show up off screen, as said before. it is the 'mother' window of any pop ups you see after it is opened. it's what causes a lot of grief for web browsers who swear they didn't even visit a web site and a pop up window showed up anyway. mozilla has a...
