as long as you think the price is good for what you get, then now's a good time ^_^. however, there are rumors that new case design is coming soon. i would be surprised if a slight speed bump wouldn't come with it as well.

i haven't used it, but if you want to use it, you have to have a way to back up your DVD on your HD first. i'm sure there are programs for DVDBackup somewhere.

i'll most likely be buying a 12" ibook as well. i wish they'd throw a dvd player in the $999 one. i don't need to burn on the go, but i'd like to watch dvds on the go ^_^.

if you want that millisecond gap gon you've got to use Roxio Jam. it's not an iTunes bug, it's just how burning works. every piece of burning software does this. Roxio Jam remedies this by adding the tracks together as one track then track-splitting them on burn.
