btw, i have four 12' in my apartment (ibook dual usb, ibook G3 800 mhz, powerbook 1,3 ghz and an iBook 1,2 ghz.) as you can see these range from 2001 (dual USB) to 2005 (ibook G4 1.2 ghz). putting the oldest ibook next to the latest i can't see any difference in screen brightness. therefore...

ok, sarcasm aside, that was not my point. i'm not questioning that your screen has degraded, i'm just saying that this is not a universal problem with powerbook screens/LCDs. and therefore you should be able to fix that under warranty.

my fathers titanium Book (first revision) still has A LOT brighter display than my 12' rev C Aluminium Book, so i dont think this degradation happens that fast. maybe over a 10 year time span. Maybe your partner just have a different calibration on the display. or maybe apple have indeed...

very usefull. i only installed the XY-version since i heard it started to get complicated if yuo both had the XY and the rotation scroller (it couldt always separate the comandos). Works really well!

i think it is kool by the way that the choose french names for some of their technologies. the whole technologybusiness is far too anglosaxian as it is. it makes it stand out. and we non englishspeaking countries have to live with the whole iPhoto, iMovie etc thing. so right back at you :P :)

that they went with french instead of english is probably to tie it in a cognitative way to rendezvous. makes it easier to see that it is the same thing... on the other hand they DID name exposé exposé and not expose. so maybe it is a second french wave :)

yes it was because OpenTalk sounded to technical. it makes sense to someone who knows how networks work, but to the normal user the whole "talk" thing is not a good metaphor.

no, but i'm telling you that i read a review (maybe it was PC MAG, or PC World or something like that) where the journalist said the built in speakers was a bit thin to listen to music on, but that you could connect external speakers. maybe she was delerious?

but the mini has a speaker. a very small one. i've heard that it is not fantastic by any standard, but it is not that far from the ibook.
