    Did you try tarring the archive, then gzipping or bzipping it, I'm pretty sure that it should work if you just tar a whole directory because that shuold compress everything else inside of it. If you are having errors maybe it is because of some preferences too? Justin

    Do you know the files you installed with XFree? Also, you may want to try ./configure --with-xwindows=/usr/X11R6 or something that will allow you to specify where xwindows is. Justin

    If you want to use ssh to login as root you have to edit one of the ssh config files in /etc and put that it is ok to login as root and then you are set their. Justin

    pico .xinitrc (stuff will appear in the window) type in: exec gnome-session (control o then control x, this saves and quits it) Then you should be set. I"m not sure if that is the right command though.

    cp /usr/libexec/config.* . make sure you are in the directory that you untarred so that the config files will be copied to the directory and when you run ./configure then your host type will be seen. Justin

    Lost my 'head' (command)

    Where did the HEAD command get installed, if it didn't get installed in teh same directory as the head command then you should be able to just change the name of HEAD or delete it.
