    Someone verify this bug?

Are the non-admin's able to change anything though? Try to login as a non-admin then try to change root's password. I'd try but i'm not in X.1 right now.

DSL, routers, Windoze, and a Mac

I don't know anything about PC wireless internet, but I think the linkSys wireless router works with Mac's. You might want to check LinkSys's site to see if you need drivers or anything to get it to work. I don't know much about Wireless internet, so someone else could probably help you...

Mount CD's and Images on OS X 10.0

Does DiskCopy get to the verify stage? If so, just click cancel so it does not verify, if that does not work and you have the 10.1 update, just boot up from the install disk and update that, I wouldn't reccomend this but try to find a copy of it on hotline or carracho in classic then burn it...

Mount CD's and Images on OS X 10.0

Have you tried using DiskCopy to open up the .dmg images? Also, what type of CD's are you trying to use, are they home-made (burned cd's) or are they cd's you've gotten from something you bought (games, etc.). Also, try playing and Audio cd and see what happens.

    Amateur in the house!

I thought 'Learn Unix in 24 Hours' was a good book to help start out. If you don't want to pay then just look around the web for tutorials I think macosx.org still has their intro to unix tutorial up , or just read Unix forums all over the web (macosx.com, macnn.com, macaddict.com, etc.)

    OS 10.1 breaks XDarwin?

You might want to reisntall XFree86 if you have the time/resources available. The same thing happened to me and I just reinstalled XWindows 4.1.0 and everything is working. I haven't installed any WindowManagers yet though.

    Source for color ls

You could also go to http://macosx.forked.net and download their color-ls package, install that then in your .cshrc file type in 'alias ls ls --color'. I am fairly sure that you do not need the ls --color=always in the tag, but I may be wrong.

logging in as root in terminal?

Try: sudo su or sudo /bin/tcsh /bin/tcsh can be changed to the path of the shell that you are using so if you are using bash it would be /bin/bash or wherever it is stored. Also...have you enabled the Root User?

    Mac OS X wannabe questions

The SSH server and client are installed in 10.1, I am using both right now. Both have a couple bugs that some people are having but they can be fixed by installing a newer/older version of OpenSSH. The legal issues Apple was having was with wget and some other commands and the GNU GPL I think...

    C Compiler Cannot Create Executables

This is happening because apple has updated the *NIX side of X and now many things are different. I am having trouble installing some things because libSystem.dylib is different from 10.0.4's version of it. Sooner or later hopefully either Apple will release an update or software developers...

Getting Bosch to work (free PC emulator)

Whenever I try to run FreeDOS under Bochs i get this error message: Bochs is exiting with the following message: [XGUI] Could not open vga font

    Mac OS X root password

The message should show: "user not in /etc/sudoers file" It shouldn't say anything about the root password being incorrect. Whenever I try to sudo without permission to in YDL 2.0 and in X, i get the message above.

    Mac OS X root password

No, that is what is supposed to happen. If you edit the /etc/sudoers file, then you can control which users can use the sudo command and which users cannot use it. If everyone could use sudo, that would mean everyone would have full control over your computer.

    portscan from the CLI

./configure ppc or cp /usr/libexec/config.* . then ./configure I don't know if the second one of those fixes the problem, but it has for me when I've tried compiling a couple other programs. Also make sure that you have the beta version, i think that is the only version of nmap...

    Mac OS X root password

To use NetInfo you just have to open up the program ( it is in /Applications/Utilities/ ). Open it up, then under one of the menu's it says enable root user, just do that and change the password. I find that using the CLI is easiar though. Just open up a terminal and type in 'sudo /bin/tcsh'...
