Advice on purchasing a new mac, IMAC VS G5.

At first I thought that this thread was legit. Since I own an iMac similar to the one purchased by OSX-Devlinite I regretted that i didn't have the time to help and encourage; but the rest of you have. Yet something about the last few posts, especially the one above this bothers me. The...

Advice on purchasing a new mac, IMAC VS G5.

May I suggest a book to help speed you on your way: Mac OS X for Windows Users: A Switcher's Guide by David Coursey. The mouse; the subject of countless flame wars on these and other forums. Some people actually like the one button approach. I selected a Logitech optical mouse. Works...

Advice on purchasing a new mac, IMAC VS G5.

A year ago I did essentially the same thing. Except then the speed was 1ghz. I also got the extra ram from crucial. I think you will be pleased. The wide aspect display is nice. You can put all your palettes on one side and still have room for your document/ picture. I don't know what others...

    USB Smartmedia Card Reader Problems

I have found that to be true as well. My original Sandisk flash memory card reader won't work in X. But then it wouldn't always work under 9.2 or various versions of windows; sometimes Win2k would recognize it and sometimes it wouldn't. I don't think that the USB 1.1 specs were always...

    USB Smartmedia Card Reader Problems

Great minds indeed!:D I purchased mine at an Apple store in Dallas, Texas. I felt that if Apple sold it, that compatability wouldn't be a problem. It wasnt. Good luck.

    USB Smartmedia Card Reader Problems

I have a SmartDisk Universal reader which can read all the current removable media types, including the one you have. it will even read that Sony memory stick. If you have OS X 10.1.2 or higher, you will not need a driver. The card shows up as a disk image on the desktop. These run $30 U.S...

5% of all Windows installs crash 2 or more times a day?

On another forum someone calculated just how many people that was that had this bad XP experience. He came up with a number of over 27 million. Then that's more than the total number of Mac users worlwide.:D

    How to use Diskwarrior?

Hold down the C key while the computer restarts; by this I mean select restart from the Apple menu then hold down the C key. I think you'll be able to tell when it has started to access the CD; when this happens you can release the C key. Once the boot process has finished then run Diskwarrier.

    How to use Diskwarrior?

With the Diskwarrior CD in your CD drive, restart your computer, while holding down the "C" key. This will force the computer to boot from the CD. You will then be able to use every feature of Diskwarrior. Whe you are finished with the repair work, restart the computer but don't hold down...

    memory upgrade for powerbook 12"

The "RISC" chip (such as the G3 or G4) addresses memory differently from the x86 (intel) chip. So even the "mechanics" are different. OS X (as can all versions of Unix) can basically use all the memory the chip can address. The more memory, the more efficient it can be. For Win2k and...
