I have iMac rev. A/233 , 96MB RAM. Runs perfect. There is a slowdown if you startup classic and try to launch 2-3 classic apps at once. With a little bit of finetuning, though, you'll live.

The classic's compatibility level is amazing. Unless the extensions deal with some piece of hardware, they will almost definitely work in OS X.

Works fine, through OS X. Set up is pretty straight forward and PPP is explicitly supported. It's really fast, too.

The statement about OS X coming after 05/15/2001 , I mean. Besides, if you boot from anything that's >=8.1, you'll be able to see your OS X volume. Installing OS 9 over OS X is a bit tedious, but it's doable.

I think that was just a paranoid statement. The OS X is almost 90% finished.

Man, classic is pretty stable. It should work. I am almost sure it's the extensions. Try holding shift while the classic is booting...

I am a realtively careful person, but still I believe that if your machine is one of the supported on Apple's site and if you have more than 800MB HDD and >=96MB RAM, you don't need any backup. MacOS X install goes supersmoothly; it's almost impossible to crash, and more importantly: it...
