Mac Mini to become a digital hub?

What type of media centre are we talking about? Sitting beneath the family television? Hidden away in a cupboard piping television/movies/music/images etc. around the house? Can't speak for the rest of the globe but I do know that the majority of Irish adults find programming a VCR challenging...

Are the mails from people you know? It sounds like junk mail. Do not reply to them in any shape or form. You will be inviting more junk mail on yourself

    iMac+Mac mini = not what I wanted!?

You can vnc into the mini and run Tiger I suppose but that would be crazy. The mini is faster and more capable than the imac so get a cheap crt or lcd monitor to use with it. You can then set up the imac as a shared network volume. It could be used to store documents, video, music etc. It could...

    Mac OS X 10.4.3 - Update good/bad?

All good on my setup. DP 2ghz Powermac, no problems. Safari a little more responsive, dashboard still fairly slow off the mark though. Ran Macjanitor and diskutility before updating.

    Nano lawsuit.

I own a black nano and it does scratch very easily. No coins, keys etc. in my pocket. Just the nano. I'm always reasonably careful with phones, iPods etc. so as not to scratch the screens but the nano is a different kettle of fish. Lots of tiny scratches. I posted this somewhere before but the...

Apple releases "Aperture" software for pro photographers.

The Canon is easier to use. A decent lense (not the kit lense) is a must. Wonderfully sharp pictures, easy navigation of menus and well laid out controls. In this price range the Canon (350D/Digital Rebel XT) is hard to beat. I'm also seriously considering Aperture. It looks amazing. Good colour...

Why is Quicktime encoding so slow?

Running a DP 2 Ghz with 4 GB Ram, why is Quicktime so slow to encode H264, export to iPod etc? Handbrake/ffmpegx flies along. Looking at Activity Monitor, neither Processor is maxed out, lots of memory available...what gives?

Feeback for Site Tweaks (Act Now)

The site looks and works well. I can't find fault. It's easy to find a forum for a specific issue, the search works well and the whole thing is easy on the eye. Keep it up!

    Anyone experience iPod nano problems?

That's only for the nanos that had faulty screens, ie cracked/broken. Nothing about the scratching issue

    Anyone experience iPod nano problems?

I got the Nano, charged it, put it into jeans pocket, walked to my local bookshop, got back and it was covered in lots of small but noticeable scratches. Like someone had rubbed it with steel wool. No deep gashes but for f%^k sake it was only 5 hours old!!

    Anyone experience iPod nano problems?

All of the iPods scratch easily but my new Nano is already ruined from scratches. Looks like it is a year old. FYI, only placed in jeans/tracksuit/running shorts pockets. Always alone ie no keys, coins etc. Rubbing it with a t-shirt/football jersey scratched mine, it is unbelievably prone to...

    Epson R2400 print driver

Thanks for your replies, installed the new driver and added it through the "More Printers" option in Print setup utility. I'm still hitting system print dialogs. I would prefer to use the official drivers from Epson and steer clear of Gimp for the moment. Anybody had this problem before?

    Epson R2400 print driver

I just took delivery of a brand new R2400, followed the installation instructions to the letter but can't access the advanced driver settings. All I can get are system print dialogs when I try to print. I have tried a test print on premium glossy from CS2 but the colours are horrendous. I need...
