iCal Additional Functionality - Any third party app?

Give Entourage a look (which is about the closest thing to Outlook) There's a program called CRM4Mac which integrates AB, Mail and iCal but it's not quite Outlook to someone who used its features.

    Please take away my fear...

Buy an Intel iMac, and dual-boot OS X and Windows. Try to keep each totally separate from one another wherever possible (no VPC or anything), and see which one you end up using most. Then use that full-time.

    The Most Romantic Poem. Ever.

Uh, I think you mean 0x0000FF RIBBON. It'd be more like a 0xDDCC00 medal poem.

    Quark Xpress Error

It's a little smart-arsed, I know, but whenever the problem is Quark XPress, the solution is Adobe InDesign :P. Which version of QXP are you using? There are many free updates available from Quark.

Jumping to an item by keypress in Finder

Pressing S once goes to your first S-application, pressing S twice goes to the closest application to "Ss". Try S then Tab from one to the next.

flash-can i convert fla to mpeg...

The way I've tended to do this in the past is to use a program like Snapz Pro to video capture.

    Maximize shortcut?

It'd help us understand your problem (and why it's a problem) if you told us which app you needed in Full screen. There's a big reason why full-screen maximising doesn't work for Mac users, and that's the fact that there's no Taskbar. Which, I'm sure you'll understand, we're all more than...

    Animating that gif.

Actually, Lt Major Burns, unless I'm mistaken, Animated GIFs aren't just a sequence of images, from a compression point of view. From my understanding, an Animated GIF is really one wide GIF image with all the frames side-by-side and the "viewport" of the GIF changes step by step to each. Since...

    photo imaging programs????

If you're going to use any sort of GIMP, you really, really, *really* should use SeaShore. It's the GIMP in Cocoa (so it runs in Aqua, not in X11), and organised a little like Photoshop (it doesn't look like its interface was designed by an engineer, for example). It's also worth noting that...

disable dvd player when dvd is mounted

Why do you want them to disable the auto-start? If it's a video disc, why shouldn't they open it in DVD player? If it isn't, it will just mount on the desktop like other non-video DVDs.

I need help with if and else statements.

That's some pretty horrible code right there: You're defining a series of meaningless variables (all those chars), then assigning them all to null variables. Plus, you're defining 'day' as an integer, then passing it a character. You don't need to have all that stuff there at all. If your task...

Can't you just use a paperclip, like with every other optical drive I've ever seen?

apple display on a windows box

Heh; yeah, but no-one *forces* you to have the browser window maximised :P. But yeah, I see your point; the taskbar would get plenty of room though :D.

    Yet another XHTML quick question...

It would be better if your CSS was in a separate file (and each page could reference it). Generally the only CSS which should be in the source code are page-specific styles. This part: <div align="center"> <table width="343" border="0" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="0"> <tr>...

    Supporting Macs

The iMac nor the Mac mini will stand up to the PC's video-editing and encoding; the graphics cards in both of them aren't exactly top-of-the-range (though neither is *crap*), and you've already got a very high-end computer with software that does the job. No sense playing around if you've...

    Maintenance for older versions?

There have been numerous Security Updates for 10.3.9. Check out this list for specifics. Apple generally supports the previous system as far as Security updates go, and if there's a very critical problem, they'll release an update for Jaguar as well, but a full minor version (10.3.8, .9 etc)...

Keeping the neighbours out of my wi-fi

WPA is significantly stronger, but also slows the network communications down (since everything gets encrypted in all directions). WPA2 is stronger still, but it seems to cause drop-outs in OS X (for a friend of mine, anyway).

apple display on a windows box

Not made for wide-screen? Windows adapts to monitor sizes better than any other OS that I've ever used.
