    iBook and OsX?

My iBook 600Mhz with 640Mb RAM works great. I keep a ton of applications open. The performance problems that plague me are the same ones that plague most other OS X users (e.g., window resizing). I had to take out my defective 512MB memory chip recently, though. With the standard 128Mb...

    Advice On Memory Upgrade

Count me in for crucial. I purchased a 512MB stick from them for my iBook and have had no problems. Shipping was fast and free.

Please don't switch all iBooks to larger form factor!!!

I agree that it is personal preference. I just hope that Apple doesn't force a 14" on me. What I mean is that by the time I need a replacement for this iBook in 2-3 years, i hope that they won't have shifted the entire line to 14" screens and the larger form factors. I like the small size...

Please don't switch all iBooks to larger form factor!!!

If they did that, I'd have to sell my 3 month old iBook (or give it to a family member), and shell out the bucks for a new one.

Please don't switch all iBooks to larger form factor!!!

Yep. For me its either the 12" ibook or the TiBook. I'm not quite sure what segment the 14" book is targeting, when it and the TiBook are so close in price (but the TiBook is so much better spec'd). John

Please don't switch all iBooks to larger form factor!!!

Could you post the link to the source where u read the the 12" was being phased out? I love the 12" form factor. I'm with u guys. I will never purchase the 14" version because it is too large and it is ugly to me. John

    Waking up from sleep

Hmm...well short of re-installing mac os x and sending the computer in for servicing, the steps in the Apple KB article didn't help much. Im interested in hearing whether anyone else has problems bring their computer back from sleep. Thanks! John

    Waking up from sleep

Hi folks: Not sure if this is an OS X problem or a hardware problem. My iBook has a hard time waking up from sleep. I'm running OS X 10.1.2. I put it to sleep (either by closing it or by putting it to sleep using the menu item). Often, when I restart the computer, the disks spin up but...

    ordered iBook - im stupid

I much prefer the 12" ibook over its 14" sibling. Yes, the screen is a little smaller, but I don't notice much effective difference between the two. They both have the same maximum resolution, as far as I know. Plus the form factor on the 12" is so much nicer IMHO. Not only is it easier to...

    iBook Security Slot (Followup)

Folks: A while ago I posted a question regarding the iBook security slot. I had an old kensington lock that would not fit into the iBook slot. I wrote than I had contacted Kensington and was told that the iBook slot was about 15% smaller. Well after some fruitless searching for a lock...

    Removing those pesky iBook scratches

Hi folks: Well I tried out Novus #2 and it works GREAT! Got rid of the scratches that the repairmen put into my iBook. Also I used a product called Brillianze afterwards to finish it off, and the iBook looks brand new. The two products also help prevent new scratches, dust, and...

    Removing those pesky iBook scratches

The only complaint I have about the new iBook is that, despite claims from Apple that it is resistant to damage, the clear covering scratches WAY to easily. I sent in my iBook for repair (for some water damage), and it came back with the case all marked -- apparently from handling by the...

Help! Water damage to iBook screen

Thanks for the suggestion. Most small consumer electronics (like the RIO) do not use enough voltage to cause a permanent electrical short when exposed to water. However, I don't think that is the case with the notebook. Unfortunately, the computer was on and plugged in when some water...

Help! Water damage to iBook screen

Last night, while working in front of my computer, I took a drink from a glass of water and choked, spewing water all over my ibook screen. It was a fair amount of water, though there didn't seem to be so much space for the water to seep in. Well nothing happened for a few minutes, and then...
