    make a music compilation CD

Is there any software that makes it easy to construct a music compilation CD? Maybe something that would create a CDR image from multiple music CD sources? I'd like the result to be playable in a standard CD player.

    mac Mail autofill reset

When I create a new message in Mac Mail and I type in the "To" field, auto-fill attempts to guess who I want to send the message to. This would be fine, however, there are many addresses it has stored that I no longer want to pop up as possible auto-fill selections. How do I reset the auto-fill...

iphone car audio system & wish for CarPod

Thank you for the information, that is a fairly good design but the head unit does not allow for making calls with the iPhone, so I suppose I will wait until some bright manufacturer realizes the huge demand for a product like this. This is one of those things that falls into the category...

iphone car audio system & wish for CarPod

Sadly Apple has yet to produce the "CarPod", ie an Apple-branded car audio "head unit". So, I would like to buy a car audio "head unit" that integrates with the iPhone 3G so I can listen to the music on it as well as make phone calls through the car audio system. I was looking at the Eclipse...

    which camcorder?

I'm looking for a Sony or Canon camcorder under $400, new, that stores footage on flash memory cards and uses a storage format compatible with iMovie '07 or '08. Any recommendations? Why doesn't iMovie directly support mpeg2 when so many cameras seem to use that as a storage format?

self = [super init]; // please explain

self = [super init]; When placed as the first line in an init method, why does the above line of code not cause a memory leak? I'm coming from a C++ background and I've only studied Obj-C for a few days.

    Safari "Private Browsing"

I really don't want advertisers and random website marketing junk taking up disk space on my computer. I don't want websites "guessing" what I would like to buy, etc... I really wish Apple would allow the enabling of persistent private browsing in Safari. The always-on tab-pane would be nice...

    built-in download manager?

Why does OS X not have a "built-in" download manager that applications could programatically pass download requests to? All web browsers, etc, could pass requests to this manager. If a browser crashed the downloads could resume later, they would be centralized, etc...

    hostname strange behavior

I'm using Leopard 10.5.2, MBP. When I was using 10.4.something, I set the hostname to X using system preferences -> sharing. Everything worked fine. Months later, after upgrading to 10.5.1, I set the hostname to Y by the same method. This appeared to work properly. I then upgraded later...

Pages "proofreading" vs. Leopard Grammar Check

I'm shocked that Apple's "Pages" word processor has its own built-in grammar checker called "proofreading", when OS X Leopard already has a built-in grammar checker. The team that wrote Pages could have simply accessed the the Leopard grammar checker, and saved themselves a lot of work. At the...
