    upgrading PowerBook G3, suggestions?

    Hi I have a G3 PowerBook (firewire) 400MHz, 384MB, 9GB, 10.1.5 I want to get some more performance out of it. According to Apple the max ram is 512MB. What other upgrades could I add to get it running faster. I'm not too keen on the G4 processor upgrades that I have seen around though. Thanks.

    Hey, did anyone sort out twister's problem with variables not being passed through php? I ask cos I have exactly the same problem. php works fine (so far as I can tell to this point) but variables from html forms are not being passed on submit. the exact same scripts works on my web hosting...

    OK well spoke to apple tech support today and all they can offer is to reinstall OS X. Doh!

    ok that was a really good idea to copy the installer app off the OS X install CD. but alas no luck. So I guess i've proved that it isn't the installer but some system setting/file somewhere. hmmm

    Ah, no. I can actually click the lock icon and it changes to blue on mouse down but the prompt to enter user/pwd doesn't appear, and hence I don't get an option to install? any ideas anyone? I don't want to reinstall my whole system but I can't install new software till I figure this out...

    Ok my problem is that when I try to install anything and get to the screen that requires me to click the little lock icon to enter an admin user & password nothing happens when I do click the lock. I am running 10.1.5 and the problem has only just started, I have successfully installed apps...
