Hmmm... all I did was installing MacOS 10.1.4. and the Office Update. Have you already installed the MS OfficeX updater?

After updating to 10.1.4. Word, Excel and PowerPoint doesn't start anymore. I've already installed the MS Updater, but no way ... :mad:

Thanks for your post. I guess that's the solution. I've tried to extract the DVD Player.app from the Installation CD and patch it withour installion of the drive but failed. I definitly need to put the Drive into my Mac, install the software, patch it and deinstall the drive...

That's right Biff. Apple should focus on optimizing MacOS X especially since it is the preinstalled OS. Users that have for example a Mac at the office running MacOS 9 might decide to buy an iMac for home business and get a newer machine that's "much slower" than the older one in the office...

I definitly hope so. Is it right that the current finder has been programmed in carbon and the reprogrammed finder will be built up with cocoa? Or am I mixing up something here?

As much as I understood is that the finder has been programmed in carbon so far. Apple propably choose carbon to finish MacOSX as soon as possible. A cocoa version might be on the way and we will see a significant speed boost in the (near) future... I hope so ...

It's right, many tasks on MacOS X are much faster than on Mac OS9. But it's a matter of fact that what you mostly do is opening, resizing or scrolling windows. And that's what you see and feel at work and have to wait for being finished. I don't care about fast ripping a movie or...

I've bought a new G4/800/768MB last week to replace my good old beige 233 (updated to 466). I've changed all programs to MacOSX. The new system is fine, looking good but simply too slow. Working with the finder (open, close, resize windows and scrolling) is about 3 times slower than on my old...

When I change my startupdisk from MacOS X to the partition with MacOS 9.2 , the mac can't boot. He doesn't find a system folder. When I boot from CD the disc with the 2 OS partitions doesn't appear, so I can't reinstall MacOS9 ... how can I solve this problem?
