    Is this climate change?

It's always hard to say if an individual, unusual weather is a blip or linked to broader climate change (which I do believe is taking place). It does seem like there are more of these unusual events coming up. As for the cause of climate change, my view is it is best to listen to what the...

And then there is "The Daily Mail Song:" (Note: to be on the safe side, the video is mostly fine but a minor warning about the language, for anyone who could be offended by such things or have children around.) Or a member of the Question Time panel (a weekly political discussion with...

New Apple Event for the new Macs

The 64 GB vs. 32 GB question is the thing which would influence the CPU choice for me. I would rarely need the full horsepower of an M1 Max, so I'd happily take an M1 Pro at 64 GB if they made one, but they only go up to 32 GB.

    Warning About Soap!

Well, if the chemical compounds are found in nature, then even if they are dangerous the hand sanitiser can be claimed to be "natural," I suppose. ;) For example, curare (a poison) is natural but I wouldn't want it in my food or care products. :D

Moms are now consider terrorists now

It's also worth bearing in mind the source. The Daily Mail is... not the finest newspaper in the UK... although it has a large circulation. It is a tabloid and has a tendency to, ummm, make things sound more exciting, shall we say... I remember Wikipedia banned The Daily Mail from being used...

10 Must Have - Mac Applications

A nice idea for a thread. :) Let’s see, 10 (general) apps I like: 1Password: Excellent manager for passwords, licences, bank account details, and more. Camo Studio: Instead of buying an expensive webcam or DSLR, use this app to turn your phone into a high resolution webcam. ClamXAV...

    Get the Shots

@pds Interesting comparison. I think I began reading the book when I was very young, but it was too old for me and I didn't get that far. Perhaps I should revisit it when I get some time. It sounds as though it was also commenting on human morality, in parallel. One thing for me is how we...

What Specs Do I Need for an M1 Mac Mini?

I think DeltaMac has put it nicely. In terms of what you might be able to scrape by with, 8 GB may be OK according to some reports. For example, I remember some videos comparing 16 GB and 8 GB versions of the new M1 laptops, some months ago. Here's one example...

    Get the Shots

I agree that SARS and Bird Flu were first observed in China, if I remember rightly. China's also home to a staggering ~18% of the world's population (i.e. nearly 1 in 5 of us), so it might not be a big surprise when things are first observed there. To be fair, though, "Hong Kong Flu" and...

    My current desktop

Hahaha, afraid so! I've learned to multitask better over the years. Or perhaps I'm not multitasking well at all, I'm simply trying to do more at the same time while actually getting nothing done... :D

What Specs Do I Need for an M1 Mac Mini?

Personally, I'd say go for as much RAM as you can afford, particularly with M1 systems. The RAM is now part of the chip and so it not something that can be upgraded later, as used to be the case. So if in doubt about this, max out. ;) Although not an expert, I've learned a little about...

    My current desktop

Ah, interesting thought: does everyone here only use a single Space (virtual desktop)? I use roughly 10 Spaces, all with different Desktop pictures to help remind me where I am. :p

    Get the Shots

I have mixed feelings here, as you can imagine from the above. You seem to have been lucky, but please be really careful and remember others might not have the same experience as you if they come into contact with the virus. You can see from my post above that I know examples of people who...
