How can I convert a dvd to apple tv format?

These are probably spam-bait threads. In a couple of hours or days, someone will come, create a user and suggest one of the tools that cost something.

    TextEdit question?

Thank you! I _knew_ they didn't simply remove that. Just verified it, it's still there like that in Mountain Lion DP1.

    FW800 freezes iMac ?

I've seen a very similar problem with my LaCie d2 (currently newest version) with USB 3.0/2.0, Firewire 800, eSata. It only froze the computer (!) when using FireWire. Lacie has released a firmware updater that solves the problem. My guess is that your box might use the same Firewire...

How can I prevent two computers from opening the same file at the same time?

I'll do that, but I'll have to test it with some of my own Macs using both 10.6 and 10.7. Do you use 10.7 exclusively on that NAS box with that problem?

How can I prevent two computers from opening the same file at the same time?

Just now I did. We didn't change anything, and the standard is, it seems, to _not_ let anyone else work on the file. I'm confused. Might even be a Lion-only problem… :/

How can I prevent two computers from opening the same file at the same time?

Satcomer: Neither OS X Server or NAS, it's a rather simple setup… They have two iMacs and a MacBook Air. The files are on one iMac (OS X Lion Client), shared via FileSharing. From the other iMac and the MacBook Air, users are logging in with the same user that is used on the first iMac...

Are you going to buy the next-generation iPad 3?

I guess by now it's clear that the iPad 3 will get a 2K by 1.5K pixel display, and that's enough reason for me to buy one. I'm pretty sure they _won't_ call it Retina, because by their own definition of what a retina display is, it's _not_ one, but it's close enough, and that'll really make...

How can I prevent two computers from opening the same file at the same time?

I actually guess that's the way to go, though. They could add a short name of the user using it in front of the filename… "filename" > rename to "fryke_filename" > edit > save > rename to "filename". It would require quite some self-discipline, of course, but it would work, basically, if...

How can I prevent two computers from opening the same file at the same time?

No ideas there (Word FAQ, seriously?), though. ;) The Word FAQ sadly doesn't help (or my googling of the problem would've found it, anyway…). A versioning system… What are you thinking of exactly? Customer doesn't have a server yet, he's simply sharing one iMac's file system to the...

How can I prevent two computers from opening the same file at the same time?

Sadly, that's no solution for my problem, because while any of the users could lock the file, this would not stop them from having to talk to each other about _saving_ the file. (And if you lock the opening of the file, you yourself can't open it anymore.)

How can I prevent two computers from opening the same file at the same time?

A customer was using Windows and we've switched them to Macs. All perfect. But! There seems to be no way of preventing two machines from accessing the same file at the same time. In Windows, Excel would say "this file is already opened on another machine" or something to that effect. The Macs...

    USB and FireWire converters?

Dear LeoTheLion89, please state your questions only after searching at least the forums, but better the web. Most questions you're asking have been answered ad infinitum on these boards and even more so on the web. If you look for "imovie" or "ilife" on these forums, you'll end up with a couple...

    Boot Lion from External SSD

While the SSD will be perfectly able to fully use the speed of USB 2.0, that speed is probably well below what the SSD actually can accomplish. So yeah: Put that SSD _in_ the Mac mini and use the hard drive externally, like jbarley said.

How to reinstall OS9 on Graphite iMac DV SE 400?

If you can't boot from the system 9 CD, that won't fix the problem.

Enable root login in OS X Lion

First: Why would you require to login as root? As an administrative user, you can authenticate where root-privileges are required, so logging into Mac OS X as root is unnecessary. If you require such a thing in Terminal, you can simply use the command "sudo -s" to get to a root shell. For me...

[HOWTO] Show your Home Library in 10.7

I'd say it's better to have three ways than one in a HOWTO thread. But no MORE, okay? If there's even ONE more way to access the user Library in this thread, we'll have to… ;) (Btw.: I like the alt-Go-Menu one best, because I generally _like_ that Apple thinks the user doesn't need to...

    computer retarded and need help!

Yeah, but it sounds like he _is_ booted into the installer, so I'd guess it would work. Otherwise an older (Leopard 10.5 or Tiger 10.4) installation disc would be necessary.

Updated to OS LION and can't acces my HD

Haven't heard about problems of external drives specifically with Lion, so I'd say it's either a cable, the power supply or the harddrive itself at fault.

Is there a way to run Snow Leo in a virtual machine on a MBP running Lion?

Nope. Not legally possible. VMware had the ability for a very short period of time but retracted. Apple's license does not allow you to run the client version of Snow Leopard virtualized.
