As an alternative, secure your network with MAC filtering, where you authenticate with the MAC address of your wireless cards. It is not 100% secure but neither are WEP and WPA! I've set it up that way when I have had similar issues.

You really do need a set of system disks for your machine whatever happens -as a fellow forumer here said, buying a machine with no install disks is like buying a car without keys.

This is true, if you have already emptied the trash (more likely) then it is possible but difficult and expensive - and the first thing you must do is stop using the machine immediately - the data is there but the space ti is in is no longer protected so any time you save a file or anything...

That was a very very bad move. You might try http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1492 to get into single user mode, and fsck http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417 Other than that you have to have an OS X disk, and boot from that. Not having one is like going out on a boat without a life jacket in mac...

the one with audio would be _very_ useful. Otherwise the cheaper one i guess, and taking out of the minijack on the mac to one of the tv sound inputs.

That looks like the one yeah. There is only one MiniDisplayPort as far as i know.

Apple is a kind of fruit, a round thing with pips, makes nice juice and pies. A Mac is an unfashionable plastic thing you wear to keep the rain off.

How big is your HD? You need to leave min 10% free, ideally 15%. I suspect to have a pretty large HD and it is very full - and that does make Finder erratic all on its own.
