    Problem with radio streaming

Sure does, well done! I wonder what the ChCh abbreviation is. ch and chc didn't work, invalid URL. Where did you get that SGFM url? Edit: S'okay, answered my own question, all it took was a pair of eyes.

    Problem with radio streaming

My word, we're getting into complicated realms here. Sorry pjh that you couldn't connect directly from those links. Okay, what did I do that made things work? 1. FFox 2.0.0.17 > Prefs > Feeds > Subscribe to the Feeds using > Choose Application > Quicktime Player 2. SysPrefs > Flip4Mac (too many...

LaCie hd - what am I doing wrong?

What process did you use to move the unwanted files to Trash? I mean, did you drag-and-drop, or did you use Cmd-Delete? I know you've emptied the Trash now, but I'm puzzled as to why you couldn't see the trashed files therein before you emptied it. Please don't misunderstand, but is your LaCie...

LaCie hd - what am I doing wrong?

To see the change in space available, you must first delete (empty) the files from Trash.

    Problem with radio streaming

Update: found this for anyone interested ... http://www.mikesradioworld.com/ Strangely, those that show the Windows Media Player symbol just seem to work okay with Mac, providing (I assume) you have WMP app installed. Or maybe it's Flip4Mac doing its thing. I'm still using FFox 2 btw. The radio...

    Problem with radio streaming

I would say "almost certainly - yes"! However, that looks like FF3 Prefs, I'm still back in the dark ages with the last of FF2, so what I've done is to use the Feeds Pref and selected Quicktime Broadcaster to see if that'll work. If it doesn't, I'll try QT Player. Incidentally, is FF3...

    Problem with radio streaming

Here's the question I've posed on another forum: "I've already posted a question to an answer on this general topic, but I'd really appreciate some of the tech experts informing me (and others subsequently) how to make use of Flip4Mac-Quicktime to stream radio that broadcasts only in .wma...

    Problem with radio streaming

That's bad code. As Satcomer says, keep at SGFM (or whoever) to let them know the problem is theirs - not yours! Sure will. I'll give those other two stations a message about their faulty online broadcast. I mean, html and javascript should be cross-platform, multi-platform, whatever.

    Problem with radio streaming

I should have read your first post more closely - a fellow Kiwi indeed! As I type, I'm replicating your experience with SGFM ie. the progress bar gets to about 95% and stops. I watched my router activity lights, and they were doing very little. I think this is a javascript issue between the...

    dvd player not working

First thing - is the drive inside your G4 a dvd-rom or just a cd-rom? You can find this information with Applications > System Profiler > ATA (or Serial-ATA if applicable). Next - download and try VLC Player instead. There may be a compatibility problem with Apple's DVD Player (assuming your...

advice on these two external portable HD's

Looking at our NZ price watch website, I note that I can buy a Hitachi 2.5" 500 Gb drive for £107, plus an enclosure for about £4, so the £100 price looks favorable. I've read some pretty scathing reviews of Iomega external drives, so take what note you will of that. See this re the Buffalo...

    Problem with radio streaming

Check your Network Settings > Show Built-in Ethernet > Proxies to see if Web Proxy (HTTP) has been enabled. If so, disable it and try your radio station again. I lost iTunes streaming radio last week, and it was caused by the latest 10.4.11 update enabling HTTP.

    Webcam not connecting to Skype

To either of you - I encountered this issue with my Logitech QuickCam Go. Quite by chance, I learned that it would not recognise the camera, even with Macam installed, UNLESS the camera was on, light showing AND THEN Skype was activated. See if that works for you. Nowadays I leave the camera...

    Mail.app 2 or Thunderbird 2?

No, you were seeing things! I simply pointed out that it is compatible with Win. I like Comic Sans. :p Well, well, welcome in anticipation of your arrival. Have you practised speaking Niu Zild? Apparently the Neanderthals spoke like we do  Your good lady wife can teach you how to...

osx 10.4.11 FINDER does NOT burn hybrid disks

I've read back to your OP and the subsequent discussion, and nowhere did I ask what program you're using to burn - aaaagh! What prompted this was that I had cause to burn a dvd+r in the w/end for a friend, and used Toast 7. While I was setting things up, I noticed that it gave me the option of...

    Mail.app 2 or Thunderbird 2?

T-Bird is Eudora in more modern clothes. I use Eudora and the option for font size is, like you say, smaller or larger. If you know the difference between the size you're composing with, and what the Win readers see, then make necessary adjustments. Equally (equivalently?) when I get emails from...

    Sonnet processor upgrade

I agree with VT - use that $600 cost to invest in a PPC G5, assuming your present software is PPC-friendly (as opposed to Intel). Having said that, if budget is your concern, you may find something here http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/accelerators/. There has to be a question mark hanging over...

    foreign character keyboard

I need to ask - do you mean that the previous owner has mapped those keys to behave differently, or is it a foreign keyboard with the keys themselves having different symbols? I know that some HP keyboards for Britain for example, have the @ and the ? keys interchanged. Next - can you access...

    Memorex dvd-r

The quick fix is a different brand of disk - try Imation or Fuji or TDK - but there may be a deeper problem, ie. the Matshita drive. There are a lot of reports of failures of that brand in Macs. Let's hope it's just the disk brand.
