Way to skip files that won't copy?

For most of the files, I would like to have access to them on both PC and Mac, so zipping them might work. What's the best way to zip files on a Mac? Thanks

Way to skip files that won't copy?

Thanks for the suggestion, but I need my USB key to be able to work in PC's also, so reformatting to HFS+ is not a viable option. Anyone else have any ideas, or even encounter this before? Thanks

Way to skip files that won't copy?

Hello all, I'm trying to move files from a zip disk to a USB key, as zip disks are not entirely practical anymore. But to my dismay, I have several files with strange characters, or mysterious "icon" files that will not copy. When the copy process hits one of these files, it stops the...

I may have messed up my firewire extensions

Hi, So I'm having troubles with a external firewire drive after upgrading to Tiger, and I saw a possible fix that suggested messing with some of the firewire extensions in the System > Library > extensions folder. (the location of a whole lot of .kext files) What I did was move a few of...

External hard drive issues (data corruption)

I have a somewhat similar experience, where we use a firewire/USB drive to backup multiple computers (both PC and Mac). Our macs don't automatically mount the mac (HFS+) partition on the external drive(but, ironically, do automount the PC partition), but with a simple applescript we can mount...

OS 10.4 fails to recognize the HFS+ partition on my firewire/USB hard drive

how did you change the name of the partition if it wasn't recognizing it? (My partitions are "Mac backup" and "PC backup" so I'm curious about how to change this). Are there any changes that were made to the way my mac recognizes a firewire device with 10.4? Or any changes to terminal...

OS 10.4 fails to recognize the HFS+ partition on my firewire/USB hard drive

I have a MicroNet 160GB external firewire hard drive that I have split into 2 partitions. One a HFS+ for Mac, and the other NTFS for PC. The plan was/is to use this hard drive as a place to back up files in our lab, where we use both Mac and PC. Ironically, after partitioning the disk, the...
