    No. It's a part of the way OS X handles UNIX files, Mac resource forks, and metadata. I believe the ._ files contain much of the file's metadata. They're a necessary evil. MS could do something unlazy and have Windows hide them by default, but, have you ever heard the old saying about the sow's ear?

    I used Windows for at least eight years. Finally got my hands on an SE/30 in 1997. Yes, an SE/30. I stopped using my then-current PC. Tell you anything?
