Just do it from the command line.
It's been a while since I've fired up the old Mac. Lots of Linux stuff in the works.
As far as being able to determine if it was a link, it was most likely a hard link and not a soft link
ln file file
ln -s file file
It is a G4. Dosen't sound like it's worth it to me at this point. From Apples site it appears the 802.11n is compatible with 802.11a/b/g.
So I would guess the Time capsule Airport would work with my mac mini 802.11g if I were to decide to get it.

A self signed certificate is completely legitimate, BUT if it was your web site I wouldn't give you my credit card. But if building something like web based mail server and I don't want users passwords exposed, it's perfectly legit.
You don't show your complete rules. Either read the man pages for ipfw or Google. Look for "check-state" and keep-state rules. ipfw does stateful inspection. Stateful meaning it will create dynamic rules.
There already is a CLI for this. It's called fsck
fsck -b32 /device
I believe 32 is your next alternate super block
Think `dumpfs` will give you a whole bunch more.

I was going to create the same for my Home...
The local syntax you used should be good to create the keys on your side.
Verify ssh is running on port 22 with a port scanner like nmap on your webhost servers.
And yes talk to the hosting company to find out any details.
