10.2 Clean Install Questions

This may sound dumb but I'll ask anyways. I want to do a clean install of 10.2 and i was wondering if i then have to re-register all my apps? Or what happens to all that stuff in the Library? I know it gets erased by can i back it up and not have to worry about copying some of it back. I've never done a clean install before and my questions sound stupid. But if someone has a bright idea on how to advoid re-registering all my apps and loosing all my settings let me know.

Or should i just update from 10.1.5 to 10.2 with out a clean install? Is there really a difference?

Well, what I'm gonna do when I get Jag is backup everything. The entire HD to my LaCie FireWire HD and do a complete format. Then I'll copy files back over that I need.

I don't really trust those so-called smart upgrades that supposedly save your files. I just don't trust "Smart" technology. So I do it MY way.

Another factor in this is because when I upgraded from 10.0 to 10.1 I had to do a total reinstall ANYWAY because the installer didn't like my current 10.0 setup and it was Blue screen City. So, I say NO MORE. I will do reformats from now on.
