2 boot drives

I have recently used CCC to set up 10.2.8 on my new external FireWire drive. I have successfully booted from this drive (to OS X and to OS 9), however, it does not always boot from this drive even though it is selected to in my start disk up preferences. Sometimes it boots from my internal drive and other times from the FW drive. any ideas why it does this or how I can get it to boot only from my FW drive?

When you start up with a Firewire device you must hold down the T key.

And no other firewire drives are to be connected.

I think you're thinking of "FireWire Target Disk Mode," Cheryl -- you hold down 'T' when you boot to make your computer appear to another computer as a firewire disk. It has nothing to do with actually booting from a FireWire disk.

versible: I don't know what else to try -- make sure that the firewire drive is powered up and completely spun-up before trying to boot from it. Also, make sure in your Energy Saver preference pane to set "Sleep hard disks when possible" is UNchecked. Sometimes that preference messes with the firewire hard drives, causing them to sleep unexpectedly or stop responding.
