AirPort Extreme

Good morning all I hope everyone had a pleasent holiday. I was on my way out to buy a AirPort Extreme system for my 14" 800mhz IBook thats about 6 months old and I was wonder will it work with a router ?

Your iBook will not accept an AirPort Extreme card (only the G4 iBooks will), but an Airport card will work fine. Of course, it will work with an Airport Extreme Base Station, which will function as a router, you don't have to get an Airport Base Station. If you already have a wireless router, then the answer is also yes, an Airport card in your iBook will work with many wireless routers.

You can buy a wireless Router for less than Apple's Base Station.

Whichever wireless router you get, you can use it as a bridge (as opposed to having the wireless router distribute ip addresses). It's possible, however, that with the wireless router you can put your current router to rest, if the new one has enough ports for all your equipment.
