Automatic install of software updates during OS X install?

Hello,

I am getting ready to reinstall OSX and I have installed and kept many software updates since my last clean OS install. Is there a way to get the OSX install program to install these packages either during or after it has installed the actual OS? I have looked all over the place and have found nothing on this topic. Windows can do this, so surely OSX can.

After the OS is installed, just open the update installer and follow the screen prompts.
 
Hi,
right I am obviously missing something - what upgrade install? I hate to look this thick, but I haven't come across this - is it part of the OS install disk? as I have only needed to use this once since I got my mac and that was just to repartition my drive and install the clean OSX when I first got the machine. Sorry again if this is blindingly obvious.

First of all, there's zero need for partitions for 98% of Mac users. Secondly, if you're going to do a clean install, you wouldn't want old files to begin with.

Why do you need a clean install should be the first question? If valid, then it's best to do updates as needed. Once the main reintall is done, repair permissions via Disk Utility, then go to Software Update and update what you need, then repair permissions again, just to be on the safe side.

What OS is currently installed?
What updates do you want to do?
