Cannot delete email after Leopard update

Hi,

Yesterday I upgraded my parents G4 Imac to Leopard. They are now having a problem with deleting their emails from their inbox.

When they try and delete an email they get the message “the message XXXX could not be moved to the mailbox “deleted messages” The destination mailbox “deleted messages” does not allow messages to be moved to it”

They can put the emails in the junk mail folder and then empty that.

However there is one email that I cannot find any way of getting rid of. It is in the inbox, it has the “to” and the “subject” filled in, but it does not have any message body. It looks like a full message they had received, but without the body.

I cannot find any way of deleting this message or moving it into another folder, if I drag it into another folder a fraction of a second later it reappears in the inbox. I have trying tracking it down using finder, but it does not seem to be in the inbox folder with the other emails.

I was wondering if anyone knew how to resolve this issue or who has had similar experiences?

If I don’t get it resolved I will have to do a clean install but don’t really want to do that if at all possible,

Thanks for reading

Julie

Hi,

Just a quick update, I managed to solve the problem by unticking "move deleted messages to separate folder" in accounts/mailbox behaviors.
I got rid of the email I could not move by going to the edit menu and selecting "cut"

That didn't work for me. Here's what I have to do:
Message ->move to 'on my Mac' again. I set prefs to delete that when I quit mail.
Unticking 'move deleted messages to separate folder" just leaves them in the inbox.

Hi,

If you have Mac account. You can the access your web Mac account (log in) and trying delete message from your inbox. Mac is linking Mail.

I do not have a .mac account if that is what you mean. Shoulda waited to buy leopard until the bugs got worked out.
