If I select desktop in system preferences, the busy mouse cursor appears for a while and it says "Loading desktop..." and never comes back. Any idea what I can do?
This happened after I installed codetek virtualdesktop, figured out that X11 won't run if it is running and uninstalled it (virtualdesktop).
Another possibility is that I clicked TinkerTool icon and it said something about a preferences error. I have since reinstalled TinkerTool, but I can't select anything related to the desktop in TinkerTool, and I still can't change the background.
I've logged out/in and no change. Rebooted and no change.
