Can't install OS X on Dual G4

I hope someone can help me....
On a Dual 800mhz G4 Tower, running 9.2.2 I cannot get OS X to install.
I have tried with versions 10.0 thru to 10.2.4
As soon as I put the CD in and follow the prompts, it shuts down, restarts and thats as far as it gets, the beachball doesn't even spin(10.0) it sits there with a grey apple for hours (10.2.4). I made a OS X boot disk which I have used successfully on my previous macs, but that fails to start as well.

In desperation i removed the HDD and placed it into my B&W G3, I successfully (and easily) installed OS X onto it, had it running nicely. Removed the HDD and put it back into the G4, started it up and... same result, just sits there with the grey apple for hours.
I ran "hardware test CD" and everything passed ok.
OS 9.2.2 runs ok.
Is there a firmware issue or some other issue I am overlooking?

What kind of OS X install disks are these? Are they retail CDs/DVDs, are they gray-colored CDs specific to a certain system, or are they custom-made OS X CDs?

Your best bet would be to get a hold of a retail version of OS X, as it would be a universal CD/DVD that would install on any supported machine.

I would also recommend skipping 10.0 through 10.2 and getting at least 10.3 or 10.4.

yeah, I'd have to ask the same question; what kind of CDs are these? Are these downloaded, custom-made, original retails?

(ALOT of people don't know what they're doing when trying to make copys of install cds.)

But you did mention that you did get it up and running on another comp.
If the CD is simply burned wrong, then you might be BOOTING the whole OS from a CD which is a reason why your boot screen gets stuck (because it's trying to boot up the whole freakin' OS w/ Apps off of a cd,). If this is the case, I BET if you let it stay on the boot screen long enough (I'm talking about hours) it will boot up.

So overall, it DEPENDS on the source of your CD?
