Can't mount .dmg image

When I try to install new software from a .dmg image I get the following message after disk copy tries for about a minute to open it. [" xxxxxxx.dmg" failed to mount due to error 95. (no mountable file systems)] It appears as if it's going to mount and then suddenly stops with the failed message. I have tried several different .dmg files and get the same message. Anyone know where I need to start looking to correct this proble....uh challenge. Any help or suggestions will be much appreciated.

(OS is now 10.2.6)
 
Thanks for the suggestion, but not a solution. I ran DiskWarrior and Plus Optimizer for the Second time and now have no problem getting the .img files to mount.
 
I've had that same message, but only for dmg files that i've downloaded from the net, so i assumed it was dodgy/corrupted.
This happen with just the one file or with any dmg you try?

I tried about 6 diferent downloads I had saved (I save all my software downloads) and none of them woud mount until I ran DiskWarrior and Plus Optimizer for the Second time.
