Console connection from OS X to a Network Device

I'm trying to hook up my iMac running OS 10.2 to a network device that accepts a serial 9 pin connection using 9600-8-1-N. I can do this very easily with a PC using Hyperterminal, but how do I accomplish this using OS 10.2?

You'll need a usb<->serial cable and some terminal emulation software (like zterm). Newer Macs really suck for this type of thing. I keep around an old laptop PC since it's perfect for this type of app. It has 4MB RAM and some tiny hd (32MB I think), runs Win 3.11 and hyperterminal (I also have a 1MB "portable" running DOS and qmodem, but it's actually bulkier than the 4MB). The kind of thing you can pick up for $20 at Goodwill. But then again I need terminals a lot because of the stuff that I do.

Yeah, I do Hyperterminal for console connections. Probably the only reason why I keep my PC around. Just finding a way to get rid of the damn PC.

I use a keyspan USB to Serial adapter and zterm in OS X. In OS 9, I used a Palm USB adapter but couldn't get it work in OS X.
