desktop pict switching

I have a g4 dual 500 and it's got two monitors hooked up one apple 17' to the adc plug and a 21' on a seperate video card here is my problem

I have a desktop picture set to be on the 17' and just a basic color set for the 21' the default grey now when I restart it swaps the desktops with eachother scaling up my picture and putting it on the opposit monitor..

does anybody know the cure for this?

I've had this happen before also. You need to make sure that you have both the primary desktop (the one with the menu bar) and the startup display on the same monitor in your monitor control panel. If they are not on the same display, just grab the part that is missing and move it over (the startup icon in this case).
