I have burned maybe 5 or 10 discs, but not since the last few rounds of software updates. Now I'm getting the "disc burner or software not found" error in iTunes when I try to burn a playlist. Also, the blank cd does not show up on the desktop or in finder (in finder preferences, all the items are checked to show up on the desktop). When I go into the System Profiler (under Hardware > Disc Burning), it says, "No burning device was found. If you are using an external device please make sure that it is connected and powered properly."

The computer is somewhat old, but the cd drive has not been used all that much... The computer is a dual 450MHz G4.
It will still play cds just fine and I have used a lens cleaner today.
