Drivers Wanted?

I've recently upgraded to 10.2 and no longer have the ability to burn disks. This is true for iTunes and is true with even the finder which refuses to access any blank CD I put in the drive. I don't get an icon.

Let me make some important points about what led me to this sad state:

1. It all began with wanting to reinstall OS 10.1. That went fine, but then I couldn't get the third software restore CD (of 6 CDs) to work and the restore process failed.

2. So I had os 10.1 but not 9.2 and whatever was on the restore disks.

3. Things were not all right with the computer, so I clean installed 10.2.3. Now I have that, but can't burn CDs.

Is this all because of the unsuccessful software restore? Is their an easy fix? Is this just a matter of installing a driver? What else might be missing? Anybody know?

I've got the Pioneer A227 DVD-RW DVR-104 superdrive which came with my flat panel imac.

Thanks
