DVD to quicktime?

I was looking at the quicktime 6 pro capabilities and it states that you can "Import and export video, audio and images from more than a dozen file formats, including the high-quality DV camcorder format and transcode from one format to another."
Does this mean we can convert one of our personal DVDs into quicktime format? If not, is there another application out there that makes this possible?

incredible. hanbrake does the job. quick and easy. thanks...

well.. that's what i said yesterday. now today i'm attempting to use handbrake and it seems to crash everytime. i thought maybe it was just the DVD i was using, but nope, it does it for every DVD. Any suggestions?
